Woodward: Kissinger advises White House on Iraq
<snip>

He said Kissinger, who served in the Nixon and Ford administrations, has been telling Bush and Cheney that "in Iraq, he declared very simply, 'Victory is the only meaningful exit strategy."'

"This is so fascinating. Kissinger's fighting the Vietnam War again because, in his view, the problem in Vietnam was we lost our will."

<snip>

WTF????????????????????????

1. Yeah, this is nothing like Vietnam.
You know why? Because the stakes are actually higher.

Kissinger is probably telling Bush that we could afford to lose Vietnam, but we can't afford to lose Iraq.

And he's right.

7. And he may be right. The stakes may be higher.
The Iraqi oil fields in the hands of jihadists is scary. (did I spell that right?)

8. News Flash: We've already LOST Iraq - it's only a matter of time
Edited on Fri Sep-29-06 03:17 PM by ShortnFiery
before the chinooks dive in and extract the troops.

The only question is, "How many MORE soldiers must give their lives to a war and occupation that is both illegal and immoral?"

We HAVE ALREADY lost any hope to win Iraqi "hearts and minds" therefore, we have lost THE WAR - even if we continue to win every battle. :(

10. Well said ShortnFiery
Some people don't know and others can't remember that in the 60s we actually had a real enemy (the Soviet Union) that was actually working with Vietnam against us. Our enemy back then was not only real, and had nuclear weapons, but enough nuclear weapons to wipe a good part of the United States' cities off the map (This may be hyperbolic, okay, but a nation that is ready to throw away it's basic civil rights for 4 airplanes being hijacked would certainly been sent back to the stone age by what the USSR could have done to us.)

We had a really dangerous, true enemy back then.

I'm tired about hearing about how these little terrorist groups are going to come and 'get us' if we don't 'win' in Iraq. Win meaning killing what maybe a couple of million Iraqis, and then declaring victory or what. It really think that SnF is right though, we've already lost.

The rest I posted this morning here:
