FOUR points on the Clinton interview
Edited on Wed Sep-27-06 09:56 AM by underpants
First off let me say that I really love this video. I have enjoyed it with my lunch both days this week. After watching it a couple of times let me say the following.

First off and in an overview-What Clinton said and did is what we do everyday. There was nothing new in what he said or how he said it as far as I am concerned. It was like the public and official debut of everyone's "crazy liberal uncle" all your relatives and friends who always look to you for the "wild way out there" take on things see where it is all coming from. By the way-our nailing every single aspect of the war in Iraq has caused many who thought I was nuts to privately tell me that they are impressed at how knowledgeable I was and at how horrible of an idea the whole thing was from the beginning AND they now see how badly the lies were and how not a one of them was ever pointed out by the media. Thanks to DU and the blogosphere for that.

Speaking of which-Clinton met just last week with lots of the blogoshphere's liberal heavy hitters so his performance with Chris Wallace was either the result of his seeing first hand the blogger's point of view OR his letting the bloggers (that's us too) know -message received.

ALso-though he didn't completely apologize he did say that he regrets not getting OBL but he said that he TRIED. I think that goes a long way with a lot of people especially coming from a well liked (and silky smooth politician) individual like Clinton.

Lastly-I don't know if we will ever really know the results but this could be one of those watershed moments when people see a very popular public figure say a lot of the things they want to (Dean started this with his campaign) and then see how it is treated by the RW media and the MSM. The following op/ed piece is the most completely indicative thing I have read of the RW spin on the Clinton interview. The ball is in everyone's court-who ARE you going to believe, someone named Noel Sheppard or your lying eyes?

1. Clinton got a real conversation going on the important issues
What did bush do after swearing in to get Osama. The repubs have not answered it. You can't say Condi's reply that bush did "at least" as much as Clinton. That is so not an answer. Where are dates and events? Repubs have not answered the questions.

Some honesty is desperately needed in the Democratic party. It's a vote getter.

2. Right, nothing new to us.
We knew that Clinton tried and bush did absolutely nothing before 911, but now a lot more know that. Wish that info came out before that dreadful election in 04

3. This interview and the coverage since clearly shows Fox "News" to be
purely pro-republican and removes any doubt (if there ever was any) about the "fair and balanced" crap they have been trying to sell since they went on the air. They have totally lost credibility around fairness in media. It is now Fox "News" vs Democrats and that should not be good for any "news" organization.
