LTTE about the Stalinists on campus and Clinton censoring ABC
Believers Are Denied Freedom of Speech

Editor, Times-Dispatch: I don't know why we are surprised that godless people, especially those on our university campuses, deny religious people their freedom of speech. History is replete with godless nations denying basic freedoms to their citizens -- nations such as the former USSR, China, Cuba, North Korea, and others.
Our Founding Fathers warned us that our freedoms come from God, not man, because the powerful world would eventually take away the freedom of the weak.

The Stalinists on our campuses are just doing what comes naturally. A timely example is former President Clinton trying to censor ABC because he didn't like what it said in a docudrama on 9/11.

The ACLU protects pornographers' freedom of speech but denies children the right to pray in schools or display the Ten Commandments. I read recently in your paper of the overwhelming religiosity of Americans and it appears to me that we already have the tyranny of the godless in America, and is coming from the left -- as it always does.

1. It's funny the way they spin their complaint of "The state won't
officially endorse my branch of Christianity as the best ever religion of all time and won't rewrite the constitution to be in accordance to my version of my faith and won't officially declare all other religions wrong, bad, and not worthy of Constitution-protected rights" into "Lefties are trying to make my religion illegal!"

2. There's so much wrong with that statement, that it isn't worth
commenting on. Typical fact challenged, closed-minded right-wing bullshit.

3. I think I may have missed something here
When did Clinton try to censor ABC? And does the author of this letter have any grasp of the Constitution of the United States of America? The same document which guarantees free speech, such as this idiotic letter to the editor, and separation of church and state. I guess the author had one thing right. The USSR, North Korea, Cuba, and China do indeed suppress freedoms to their citizens. But it looks like the same thing is happening here. Need an example? About a month ago, darth cheney was in town for a fundraiser for a guy who is running for Congress and many of us decided to protest and march a few blocks. The local police, at the request of the cheney camp were confisticating little American Flags on sticks, mostly carried by little old ladies, who have given and given to their country and have more patriotism than darth ever will. The reason given was that the sticks could be used as weapons. But c'mon, a little old lady throwing an easily breakable stick hard enough to be a spear? It was suppression of freedom, which the author's dreaded ACLU is fighting to protect.

5. My response
Mrs. Visco apparently believes there is an actual war on X-mas and that the “godless” are waging this war against all of christiandom. Apparently Mrs. Visco doesn’t believe in political expediancy and all the attendant monsters and bad-wraps this entails. I’d like Mrs. Visco to take a gander around town and note just how many houses of worship are under siege, since christians are at “war” with the Secular minded of this country. Since she has such a powerfully profound perspective on this sensitive subject, I’d suggest she become a war correspondent... and perhaps write for you guys.

Perhaps she might enlighten us as to who had their fundamental rights trounced. I personally believe that everybody has a right to their opinions and the means to expressing them. However, I don’t believe that our Govt should sponsor any religious sect. That is the crux of separation of church and state, so that no one religion may hold curry favor over any other. So that no state sponsored religion become the God of the land. Mrs. Visco, How would you feel if Catholics became the state sponsored religion, over all others, and you happened to be a Protestant. Or, in a more crazy world... the Moonies got favor. These are the issues that were in mind when the founding fathers initated this grand experiment. This grand experiment will be OVER when we cross the divide back into the Dark Ages.

Sorry Mrs. Visco, but I believe that what you want is your religion foisted upon everybody else simply because you believe in it. That to me is the height of selfish childishness. Freedom of religion also includes freedom from religion, whether or not you like that. It also enabled your religion to flourish in this country without interference from elected officials and mob mentalities.

And by the way, North Korea does have a God head... it’s leader. Buddism is acceptable in China. The USSR is actually over, if you haven’t heard. And the last I’ve heard, pornographers don’t have a right to expressing themselves at K-12 public school.
