U.S. eyes up to $750 million in military sales to Iraq

Tue Sep 19, 7:00 PM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon notified U.S. lawmakers on Tuesday about the possible sale to Iraq of up to $500 million in helicopters, weapons and vehicles and up to $250 million in logistics support for those systems.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency, which oversees foreign arms sales, said if completed the sales would help improve the security of Iraq, "offering hope for a more stable and peaceful Middle East."

.........

Contractors for Iraq's long wish list of equipment had not yet been identified, DSCA said.

.........

The Pentagon gave no details on how Iraq would pay for the weapons, and a spokesman for DSCA could not be reached for comment.

8. Defense Security Cooperation Agency manages the Foreign Military
Sales program in which we give money to a country to be used to purchase weapons from our war profiteers.

Taxpayer pays!

7. This is why Bush's poll numbers are "up"
Not really, but why they are REPORTED up. Reported by whom? By the media which is owned by the defense contractors, e.g. NBC is owned by GE etc.

This is Bush's efforts to buy off the corporatists.
