Starbucks sued for pulling offer
Edited on Thu Sep-14-06 08:27 AM by edwardlindy
Sounds a trifle optimistic : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/5344884.stm

There are other links to Starbucks too ref. Bob Dylan etc. and sole marketing agreements.

There was a similar fiasco over here which concerned Hoover in the early nineties :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoover_free_flights_promotion .
That issue effectively sunk the UK Hoover Company.

3. I added a note about Hoover
who came seriously unstuck on a similar marketing ploy.

5. I don't know if it was a bait and switch or...
...just a poorly thought out promotion. When I worked at Borders Bookstore there used to be occasional promotions where customers could print out a discount coupon if they went to the Borders website. Apparently, there was no way to limit the number of coupons each customer could print out. Sounds like a similar kind of problem with Starbucks. Sometimes we Borders employees would just scratch our heads trying to figure out what the knuckleheads at the home office were thinking.

2. Optimistic?
I think double the cost of a Starbuck's drink is fair compensation.
