History ....consider the wins that preceded this ... (Disney-ABC & Repubs)
FOX News came on like a monster a few years back and the head of CNN went to the WH to ask what they could do to get a better deal from the Repbuplicans and its obvious they worked it out. CNN outfoxed and matched FOX.

NPR was under attack from Republicans headed by Danny Burton and Jesse Helms (if I remember it right) - the duo and other Republican threatened to end government funding and more. Now some Dems are furious at NPR for turning right and, if you notice, no one is threatening them any more and Burton is quiet. I assume NPR's money is coming in?

Disney was being boycotted by Evangelicals because they felt there were too many homosexual employees at Disneyworld (if I remember it right). Now Disney and ABC are obviously partners with Republicans. Did Disney tell them that they should back off on their hiring practices and Disney would help Republican where they could?

If yes, this means Republicans have been winning important battles along the way. As is happening with more frequency, arrogant and pushy strategists are going too far.

But Dems will win some with citizens who have been too busy to notice this has been going on. It's something easy to understand in that it doesn't take a long time to study it. If Dems play it right, they will learn that Disney and ABC having been leaning right way before this fictional drama, but worse than that, they will learn thar Disney and ABC attempted to brainwash their kids through a film, the product of a four way partnership with Scholastic.

Scholastic made the right move, except that some of the stuff is already out there. They now need to enforce the copyright on the stuff that got out before they bailed.

Disney and ABC sealed their fate with half the country. They'll feel it unless the parents just can't resist their kids who want Mickey.

Anyway - you parents have one more thing to watch out for and teach when they come to the right age - this version of what happened on 9-11 appears to be fiction.

2. I lost track of time - at least three years ago - seriously worse. I was

always proud of what I thought was their neutrality and adult and scholarly delivery. Now I can't listen to them, except on the weekends. I'm addicted to too many of their weekend programs - very little politics. For me, it started sometime after Suarez left the afternoon program. Now, even Daniel Shorr has turned. Enter Daniel Shorr on a DU search and read for yourself. Sometimes their lean is subtle, most of the time it's blatant. Even Terry Gross has ticked me.

I'll never forget watching Helms and Burton rant on C-Span. I was in shock about the possibility of losing NPR. Well, they survived.

Some know more than I do about grants and other funding - for me, it's a done deal. No more NPR Mon - Fri. Donations are now 2/7ths.

Limbaugh followers still hate NPR. We're the land of WIDE DIVIDES.

3. Check out FAIR's website
http://www.fair.org/

They have documented how far right NPR has turned. Remember how they whored for the GOP during Clinton's Impeachment? You still hear right wing shills like Cokie reciting the latest NPR talking points

That's why I stopped sending NPR any money.

under fire by Burton and Helms, plus other raving red faced angry right wingers. Keep your eyes open - there will probably be other threads about this in the future just like what must be in the archives.

There are still some well meaning employees, but the overall emphasis took a 180 and one of their producers admitted it one day in a his very optimistic, upbeat, it's all OK with him attitude. I think I heard him on C-Span.
