Here's one for all connoisseurs of fine hypocrisy.

Here’s Neocon pundit Jules Crittenden waxing most self-righteous and indignant in the Republican “Boston Herald” about the forthcoming Channel 4 (sorry Jules, we have more than one channel in the Good Ol’ U of K)

“Raise your hand if you believe in freedom of speech and a lively public debate of important issues.

Now, raise your hand if you think a feature film depicting the assassination of President Bush sounds like a thought-provoking look at the important issues of the day. Educational entertainment. A good date flick, maybe, for that hot librarian, the one with the fading "Unelect Bush Again in ’O4" bumper sticker who goes for that deep-think Brit Masterpiece Theatre stuff.

The BBC thinks so.Perhaps enviously eyeing the millions and the acclaim that self-loathing American Michael Moore’s exercise in distortion brought him, BBC’s Channel Four and BBC Director Gabriel Range are producing a "shockingly real," "documentary-style" film that shows Bush being assassined by a Syrian at a large anti-war demonstration in Chicago….

The BBC wants to hawk this revolting bucket of bile in the United States. It’s not clear to me what business foreign agents have advocating the murder of a sitting United States president, shouting fire in a crowded American theater. But America is a free country.

So I have an idea. How about a Hollywood blockbuster that depicts Britain under Sharia law?”

Meanwhile, the Lady with the Adam’s Apple is having some good, clean, innocent fun at the expense of a Republican politician who isn’t following the Holy Writ:

“THEY SHOT THE WRONG LINCOLN
August 31, 2006

In addition to supporting Democrat Joe Lieberman over Republican Alan Schlesinger in Connecticut, President Bush is supporting the Democrat over the Republican in Rhode Island, too. In the Republican primary, Bush supports Lincoln Chafee — who votes with Bush on the important issues less often than Sen. Lieberman does — over the only actual Republican in the race, Stephen Laffey.

Apart from Bush, the only person who hasn't figured out that Lincoln Chafee is a Democrat is Lincoln Chafee. As the expression goes, if Chafee switched parties, the average IQ on both sides of the aisle would go up.

It's hard to figure why Bush would support a half-wit like Lincoln Chafee. Maybe he believes his own poll numbers and is trying to help the conservatives by endorsing their opponents.

After Chafee's family money got him into Andover and Brown, he made his living shoeing horses for seven years. In fact, I've often wondered if an errant kick to the head by one of his charges would account for Chafee's rudimentary cognitive abilities…

True, Rhode Island is an overwhelmingly Democratic state, and the chances of any Republican winning the general election are slim. But that's no reason for the Republican Party to debase itself by running someone dysfunctional and illiterate enough to appeal to Democrats.”

So let me get this straight. Hypotheses about assassination (not to mention rank abuse) – even about someone in your own party – are fine if they’re not “one of us”

Assholes.

1. Wow!

And from the stuff that you get from the American right-wing at times, it seems that any dissent from the right-wing line, e.g. voting for a Democrat or criticizing Bush in any way, is 'disuniting' and will help the 'terrorists'. And yet suggesting the assassination of a political opponent (actually, in this case, just a more moderate member of her own party) is not 'disuniting' or akin to supporting terrorism?

Didn't she also say that the Al Quaeda terrorists should have targeted the New York Times building instead of the World Trade Centre?

How the hell does she get away with it all????

I thought some of our own right-wing commentators, e.g. on the "Daily Mail" were evil enough, but she seems to take the cake!

2. Probably the best thing that could happen to help Chafee is an
attack from the she-devil Coulter.
