Firing Squad Looms for the Dem Party Oligarchy

<snip>

What exactly does self-appointed congressional mega-celebrity and Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chair Rahm Emmanuel mean (says a friend of mine in congress of him: "He's an amoral, showboating cock") when he says, "Do I think and Al Sharpton are the future of the Democratic Party?"

That's actually not hard to figure out; it's political hack-ese for the human sentence bloggers = Al Sharpton. As for what he means by that: just think about the thought process that had to go into Emmanuel's adding of the phrase "and Al Sharpton," when Al Sharpton wasn't even part of the question. Ask yourself if you really believe Emmanuel isn't aware that he's addressing the mostly white, Upper West Side readers of New York magazine when he "offhandedly" ties bloggers to the legendary gold medallion-wearing icon from forty blocks north in Harlem.

These DLC types are amazing, they really are. Their pathology is unique; they all secretly worship the guilt-by-association tactics of Lee Atwater and Karl Rove, but unlike those two, not one of them has enough balls to take being thought of as the bad guy by the general public. So instead of telling big, bold whoppers right out in the open, they're forever coming out with backhanded little asides like this one, apparently in the hope that only your subconscious will notice. I won't be surprised if they respond to the next electoral loss by a DLC candidate by having Bruce Reed argue in the Wall Street Journal that "bloggers, Queer Eye, and Arabs with syphilis are not the future of the Democratic Party."...

1. The republiclowns have their fatal infestation--

the neoclowns and their pnac delusions--and we have the dlc.

The other countries of the world, or, rather, the citizens thereof, don't understand why it's so difficult for us the throw off the yoke imposed on us by the clowns and they make the association that we all are in favor of the present curse and course since we "returned * to office in 2004."

The sensible, pragmatic and slightly more humane among the clowns cannot seem, on their own, to oust the criminal cabal from their own ranks. We have a similar problem, perhaps not quite so overtly criminal and incompetent, but, allowing for the fact that the dem party is totally disenfranchised, we shall have a like problem when the dems gain more control.

In my opinion, the dlc is not representative of those who find the democratic banner more akin to their own thinking. Rahm Emmanuel strikes me as an arrogant asshole, an incompetent public speaker, and not someone I want to have to work with.

We have enough work for all of us to do to pursue the future that all who are openly of progressive and liberal bent. It's a shame we have much of that work to do in the democratic party but shit is where it is and must be cleaned up where it is.

2. "...shit is where it is and must be cleaned up where it is."
Truer words never spoken.

"Part of the problem of the progressive left is that we have fragmented into dozens of organizations, each of which must struggle for funds and email addresses and all the rest. We need to fold ourselves back into the Democratic Party and thoroughly invigorate it. Do not worry that we will cause the Party to marginalize itself. If the Party can base its actions on good science, effective governance, and efficient delivery of the programs the people need, it will prosper across all the left and all the middle of the American political spectrum. But by splitting ourselves off into all these good government organizations we have left the party to the selfish elites, and they don't know how to serve the people or the truth, and that means they do not know how to win." --Doris "Granny D" Haddock

3. I'd have used a somewhat different phrase than "firing squad"
You'll have the DLC'ers back on their "lefties want a party purge" rant again.

Then again, we could paraphrase Hoyt Axton and say :"They're like our ingrown toenails, and we can't dig them out".

6. DLC is the tapeworm in the Democrats
Intestine. Public support and donations go into the body, but the parasite absorbs the nutrients, gives nothing in return and weakens the body from lack of food, no matter how much is shovelled in.

4. The Problem Is the Good Ole Boy Club
That's why Lieberman hasn't been handed his ass in Congress--he's one of the gang. The people in elected office figure if they all hang together, nobody can take them out. We have to prove them wrong.

That's why Democratic women aren't speaking out against the day-to-day inanities--they want IN to the Good Ole Boy Club. I have news for them--Ladies, even in the Democratic Party, you are STILL second-class citizens by birth.

When one has to prove one's credentials in the Democratic Party by actually taking stands, voting the platform, and following through, then we will have leaders. And then we will have a true Party, whether in charge or in opposition, acting responsibly and honorably in the best interests of ALL the people.
