LTTE: Missouri Republican politics hit all-time low
A quote from Abraham Lincoln: "I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong."

As vice chairwoman of the St. Charles County Republican Central Committee, I had a vote in choosing our Republican nominee. I was informed that a voting member of the committee received a call from James Harris, the governor's political director, requesting a vote for Scott Rupp. Rupp reportedly won by one vote. Joe Brazil decided to run in the primary. I resented the call for one candidate over another and decided to support Brazil.

The Missouri Republican Party paid for mailers for Rupp. Many feel this is inappropriate during a primary. Brazil asked Rupp during a public meeting why they sent out a mailer saying Brazil was anti-gun. Rupp claimed ignorance as to what the party had sent until he said he received it in the mail.

I received an e-mail of a blog prior to the election from an influential Rupp supporter. It was created by Jeff Roe. It was passed around like a dirty dishrag spreading untruths about Brazil. Jeff Roe is the chief executive officer at Axiom Strategy LLC, a political consulting firm, and a consultant to Sandra Thomas, candidate for auditor. The organizer of Axiom Strategy LLC is Jamison Shipman, a lawyer at Lathrop and Gage. I was informed that Buddy Hardin requested police records on Brazil. Hardin was awarded a license fee office after Gov. Matt Blunt was elected in 2004, and was Blunt's campaign coordinator.

Winner is in the eye of the beholder!
