The August 9, 2006 Focus on the Family CitizenLink article by Wendy Cloyd was titled “The ‘Religious Right’ is Under Attack and One Guy is Fed Up.” The opening paragraph set the agenda and asserted one of the Religious Right’s fundamental deceptions:

After gaining such influence in national and state politics, the"Religious Right still claims martyrdom. I have no quarrel with those who choose to be Christian, but I also have no quarrel with those who do not believe in any Deity. My beliefs are mine, and what is in my heart is between me and the universe, and nobody else's business.

I am content to be able to worship, or not, as I choose. I am very,very uncomfortable with those who try to intimidate everybody to worship as they do. For some, freedom of religion means that they are free to shove their owns beliefs down everybody else s's throat, but they are not obliged to listen to other viewpoints, because it challenges THEIR freedom of religion. It's a strange, strange world, isn't it?

4. the article is chilling in its deconstruction of their supposed

"religiosity" and obvious symbiotic relationship with the repuke party. It points out that the "religious right" is trying to defuse the idea of a "theocracy" by twisting and distorting its meaning/implications (I see where they are doing this also with the creationist/evolution debate, training their brain-dead followers in responses to all the arguments against "intelligent design" and creationism). Again, framing is everything and the true nature of a theocracy and all it implies for every one of us MUST be hammered into the American consciousness before it is too late.

5. If, As Posited, Fundamentalists Are Dangerous When Threatened

and American fundies felt threatened by civil rights, women's rights, evolution, flouridation, public education, clean air, clean water, good government, welfare, and atheists; I propose intervention with strong anti-psychotics, confinement in small, high-security deprogramming centers, and lots of tough love. They will surely agree and understand the need for it.

We are not going back to the bad old times so idiots can feel comfortable in their ignorance and prejudice!
