Country star accused of illegally killing tame bear

Troy Lee Gentry, of the country singing duo Montgomery Gentry, has been accused of killing a tame black bear that federal officials say he tagged as killed in the wild.

Gentry, 39, of Franklin, Tennessee, and Lee Marvin Greenly, 46, of Sandstone, appeared Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Raymond Erickson in connection with a sealed indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Minneapolis.

Authorities allege that Gentry purchased the bear from Greenly, a wildlife photographer and hunting guide, then killed it with a bow and arrow in an enclosed pen on Greenly's property in October 2004.

He should have went hand to paw. Would have been a lot more interesting, at least from my perspective. There is a "business" in this sort of thing, if you can believe it. There was a family locally that had their Kudzu stray, someone found it, sold it, transported and slaughtered in a similar manner before they (and the sheriff) could track it down. Kudzus are really not that common around here so it was quickly located. People are pricks.

I might be different from many DUers but I do hunt a little (deer & small game) and I find this
story sickening. What the hell do you do with a dead bear anyway?

Drop his ass off in the bush in Alaska with ONLY his bow and 1 arrow and let him go after
a brown bear.
