The UK Terror plot: what's really going on?

I have been reading very carefully through all the Sunday newspapers to try and analyse the truth from all the scores of pages claiming to detail the so-called bomb plot. Unlike the great herd of so-called security experts doing the media analysis, I have the advantage of having had the very highest security clearances myself, having done a huge amount of professional intelligence analysis, and having been inside the spin machine.

So this, I believe, is the true story.

None of the alleged terrorists had made a bomb. None had bought a plane ticket. Many did not even have passports, which given the efficiency of the UK Passport Agency would mean they couldn't be a plane bomber for quite some time.

In the absence of bombs and airline tickets, and in many cases passports, it could be pretty difficult to convince a jury beyond reasonable doubt that individuals intended to go through with suicide bombings, whatever rash stuff they may have bragged in internet chat rooms.

What is more, many of those arrested had been under surveillance for over a year - like thousands of other British Muslims. And not just Muslims. Like me. Nothing from that surveillance had indicated the need for early arrests.

1. My friend's dad works for a security company

They invent new security stuff for airports and things, and according to my friend, his dad says it is going to be the biggest thing for his business since 911. After that they made a ton of money, and they actually moved out of our neighborhood, into a fancier one, I mean ours is not terrible, it is actually pretty nice, but it is just more normal, not big mansions etc like they have. They have like a pool now, and maids and every game you ever heard of if you are into games. So I don't think the security companies really want to know too much about how true it is or isn't.

2. And it all...

...falls down. Like all the previous breathless touts of the Humpty Dumpty Administration(s), this will prove to be just another campaign-timed stunt that worked like a charm. The original lies and bloviating lasting far longer than the follow-up reports of facts. Remember...Saddam was minutes from detonating nuclear devices, had WMD's off our shores, harbored al-Qaeda, and looked a lot like Hitler.

The fools in this country deserve what's coming at them, for blindly trusting the serial liars that they embrace. But to do any less at this point would require them to face the real fool here - the one that stares back at them from the mirror.

3. The plot was a hoax, even the press has abandoned it.

4. But we have all lost a few more of "freedoms" in the process.

The ludicrous rules on what can be carried onto a plane now make air travel - especially on a long
haul from Australia - a nightmare. A total over-reaction even if the plot were real, but worse
when you consider it's all probably a beat-up to shore up ratings for Bush and Blair.

And of course the Murdoch press is still running with it for the benefit of the sheeple.
