No shortage of fear - Molly Ivins.
She's ba-a-a-a-ck. :)

http://www.freepress.org/columns/display/1/2006/1418

We have nothing to fear but fear itself, especially since fear is now being fomented and manipulated for political purposes by a bunch of shameless hacks. Who is trying to make you afraid and why? This Karl Rove tactic is getting quite threadbare, in fact, and so much so that it is getting dangerously close to comedy.

My favorite episode, of course, was the Miami terrorists, a fearsome horde of seven described by the FBI's deputy director as, "More inspirational that operational." That means wanna-bes. An FBI informant posing as a member of al-Qaida offered to supply the plotters with material for the jihad, so they asked for boots and uniforms. Every terrorist needs a uniform.

Of course, even a nincompoop can succeed occasionally -- but the list of wanna-bes keeps growing. Seventeen people were arrested in Canada for intending to behead the prime minister. Has anyone in all of history ever cared that much about a Canadian prime minister?

Their national motto is, "Now, let's not get excited." ...

1. Very good article. She's right about the fact that the wingnut pundits
need to stop shopping off the internet and join society by getting out of their two million dollar houses once in awhile. The sign that reads, "bush is the real terrorist," really has it right. Bush and his cronies want to scare american's but keep us brave enough to go to the voting booths. Silliness.

2. Molly's In Rare Form
but then, you'd have to be Dubya to fail to make comedic hay out of the raw material this regime dishes daily.

3. Thanks for posting CM
I was just about to do the same (having also been on vacation). The best part is her take on the Lieberman defeat.

They’re behaving as though no one had a right to challenge Lieberman, whereas given his record I can’t think of anyone who deserved challenge more.

4. I was a little worried about her.
I knew she was probably on vacation, but I kept thinking about her history of cancer and worried.

5. If I recall correctly, she almost always takes off much of August
for vacation (which seems to be a TX thing, but unlike Bush she has more sense than to go out in 100+ F heat and cut brush).
