Lamont Victory Disaster For Democrats (?)
OK it's from a right wing site, but is Cokie Roberts quoted correctly?

What about this?

Cokie Roberts Shocks George Stephanopoulos: Lamont Victory Disaster For Democrats

http://newsbusters.org/node/6796

Stephanopoulos looked stunned, and asked: “Disaster for the Democratic Party? Why?” Roberts elaborated:

Yes, I do because I think, first of all, that pushing the party to the left, which is what's likely to happen, is pushing the party to the position from which it traditionally loses, and…in presidential elections but also it will send a signal to everybody in the Senate, watch out, the only smart thing to do here is play to your base, and then what that means is that your legislation becomes a mess, which it already is but even more of a mess, and you get…So you get just a total chaos.

1. I'm tired of stinking-rich out-of-touch pundits telling me what to think
Shut the fuck up, Cokie. You're about as republican as the rest of them. You're in that Elite Club of Bush's, the people who earn more money off their interest in a month than most Americans make in a year. You are completely out of touch, and are just parroting the same old tired crap all you rich bastards are saying. If only the lowly working class Americans would accept that Republican policies are their savior then they'll be great democrats.

Just shut the bloody fuck up, Cokie.

2. Well, I don't buy that assessment much, however
I will say that it will be a bad thing if Lieberman is elected as an Independent. Very embarassing and it would be damaging to the progressive movement.

4. All the right winger pundits and blogs are calling it a disaster
It is a disaster for the DC DLC Democrats, but a positive sign for the Democratic party as a whole.

5. But the Republicans catering to their base is good.

Cokie Roberts is a fascist meidawhore, is now and ever shall be.

You have to be pretty far to the right to shock little George Stephanopoulos.

8. 'pushing the party to the position from which it traditionally loses'
Yeah, we lost from the left running FDR, Truman, and JFK.

Cokie is either a lying bitch, or too stupid to be a pundit.
Which is it, Cokie?

12. The punditry continues to spin itself into irrelevance...
Dems have been running as Repug-lite for years now and look where that's gotten them. Roberts and the rest of the removed-from-reality Washington journalists just don't get it anymore.

15. Lamont IS playing to the base--AND THEY DON'T LIKE JOE ANYMORE!
But George has to take his share of the blame, too, for framing the question that--he WANTED a negative response, forcing Roberts to say something that didn't make a drop of sense...hey, maybe he's on our side, after all!

18. That's rich!
What exactly has the Republican party become over the last 30 years? Where once upon a time the party was controlled by Moderates and the wingnuts were just a fringe, now the wingnut rapture nutballs control the party. Why didn't she bring this up? Compared to how extreme the Republican party has become Democrats seem very Moderate in comparision. What a loser! Ned Lamont is not an extreme, leftist crazy. He is just a real Democrat.
