The "Armageddon Lobby" - a very good short read
http://abcnews.go.com/Nightline/story?id=2258864&page=1

"What is happening in Israel today with their neighbors is prophesied in the Bible. The whole world should understand the reason for the conflict in the Middle East," she said, adding this has all been foretold.

The group's organizer is Pastor John Hagee, the influential Texas minister from the 18,000-member Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, who explains his interest in this region of the Middle East by saying Israel is not like other countries.

More here on Hagee and his puppet Tom Delay

And he said that will be followed by a Chinese army of 200 million coming to the city of Armageddon where they will meet British and U.S. forces in the Battle of Armageddon.

"When the messiah comes we will ask him if he coming or returning and that would establish if we would all be Jews of Christians," Ayalon said. "Until he comes, I don't worry myself about this."

And until that day, Israel will be able to depend upon Christians from Waco to Washington for unconditional support.

These are the same fruitcakes Israel kicked out in late 1999 because they were afraid they might do something to start "World War III" with the start of "The Millennium" on Jan. 1st, 2000 (which just shows their ignorance - millennia & centuries start on '01, not '00. Not to mention that the current numbering of years wasn't in existence when the Book of Revelation was written.)
I'm sure that the Israelis are real glad to have these nutjobs on their side.

on edit - you'd think an English major would know that the plural of "ium" is "ia" not "iums"

4. These folks would be laughable, if they didn't have so much damn influence
The influence they wield makes them damn scary IMO. People really need to open their eyes to this movement - they're hellbent on destroying the world in the name of their god, and have armies of zombified minions to back them up. :scared:

6. I've read revelations, and I don't remember anything about a
chinese army of 200 million.

Could 200 million, standing shoulder to shoulder, even fit in the valley ov Megido?

9. They tend to interpret things in a way that suits them - creating reality
All things are possible with a good imagination.

My understanding was that Revelations was written by a Greek, designed to put the fear of god into the Romans and prevent them from attacking... then again, the believers in my fam were Catholic, and didn't believe in the whole Revelation of John BS.

8. I'm glad I know better than to make fun of people like this
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 01:09 PM by underpants
otherwise I might make a comparison to pro RASSLIN' fans and their continued interest in the unresolveable. They just keep showing up hoping that THIS will be the time the bad guy REALLY gets it..... nope...maybe next time pa? Yeah son maybe next time....

But then I know better than to do that.

BTW- it's a great business to get into that never-having-to-actually-produce-the-invisible-product-that-you-are-selling-business.
