O'Reilly and Geraldo, our brilliant careers...whiney bitchfest

O'Reilly blasts "smear merchants" and "vampires" criticizing Mel Gibson; Rivera smears Olbermann, Stewart, and Colbert

Summary: On his Fox News program, Bill O'Reilly called Mel Gibson's recent anti-Semitic comments "inexcusable," but said it is "more important" to discuss the "point where the media and individual Americans start to enjoy the suffering of rich and powerful people." Guest Geraldo Rivera later suggested that O'Reilly refer to "that schmuck from MSNBC," apparently MSNBC host Keith Olbermann; Rivera added that the "schmuck from MSNBC" is a "lowlife." Rivera also asserted that Comedy Central hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert "make a living putting on video of old ladies slipping on ice and people laughing" and that they "exist in a small little place where they count for nothing."

During a discussion on the August 2 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor with Geraldo at Large host and former Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera, Bill O'Reilly stated that the anti-Semitic remarks Mel Gibson made following his July 28 arrest were "inexcusable," but that it is "more important" to discuss the "point where the media and individual Americans start to enjoy the suffering of rich and powerful people." O'Reilly declared that media figures who have criticized Gibson's remarks are "smear merchants" who have "blood all over their mouth, these vampires," and also targeted the "corporate masters" behind them, who are "the truly evil people." In keeping with O'Reilly's refusal to mention by name certain people O'Reilly dislikes because doing so gives them "more publicity," Rivera suggested O'Reilly refer to one in particular -- presumably MSNBC host Keith Olbermann, who has repeatedly given O'Reilly his nightly "Worst Person in the World" award -- as "that schmuck from MSNBC," adding that the "schmuck from MSNBC" is a "lowlife." Later, Rivera did use names, asserting that Comedy Central hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert "make a living putting on video of old ladies slipping on ice and people laughing" and that they "exist in a small little place where they count for nothing."

2. Talk about vampires
O'Reilly and Geraldo are two of the biggest.

I just watched this a little while ago. They are accusing Keith of what they, themselves, do. LOL, O'Reilly was complaining that smear merchants keep talking about when some people make mistakes. The smear merchants won't let it go and realize that the person who got caught making a mistake is sorry. Sounds like KO's critiques are really starting to get under little Billy's skin.

3. As Stewart himself has said...
IT'S A COMEDY SHOW!

It's pretty sad when so-called newscasters start contrasting themselves with a show on Comedy Central. Although O'Reilly and Rivera would be freakin' hilarious if they weren't such dicks.

Geraldo's career is in the final stages of implosion. Going after Jon Stewart & Steven Colbert is a perfect example of why that has happened.

As quoted above: " make a living putting on video of old ladies slipping on ice and people laughing" and that they "exist in a small little place where they count for nothing."

Hmmmmm. Where to start? Well, IMHO Stewart and Colbert offer some of the best, and most meaningful and intelligent comedy ever produced. I would say they rarely resort to cheap shots, except of course when Bush or one of his cronies says or does something ridiculous; and I think we should charge that up to public service.

As for the "small little place" (and pardon me I must interject my disdain at using two common, overused English words as small and little to embellish his comment, so REDUNDANT--not to mention repetitive and wordy)I haven't tripped over Geraldo's egotistical face on the TV in well over a year.

Glad to see you're still alive, big G!

5. That clip is hilarious -they stir each other up, like at a gym gab fest
O'REILLY: I think we should call these people out. I think we should call these people out.

RIVERA: Then call them by name, then.

O'REILLY: No.

RIVERA: Then don't, then don't --

O'REILLY: Because then you give them more publicity.

RIVERA: Then just say, "It's that schmuck from MSNBC who's doing that," and call him that.
==========

You say his name.
No, you.
I don't want to say his name.
Okay, let's call him this....
Are you going to the dance Friday?

8. Bill O'Reilly and Geraldo Rivera
Two self-obsessed jackasses that are always projecting their own faults onto others. Who the fuck really cares what they think? They've both been unmasked as chronic liars, spin artists, and morons on countless occasions.

I love how they say things like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert "exist in a small little place where they count for nothing." Both Stewart and Colbert have more ratings than O'Lielly and Rivera combined. But to listen to them talk, you'd think that they were all the rage with "the folks" and that Fox News still has the clout that it had a few years ago. It doesn't. Their ratings are falling and only the real morons out there still think that Fox is fair and balanced. Even conservatives I know are now admitting that Fox is right wing. No one's buying it anymore. The time of O'Reilly and friends has passed. But they will be the last ones to acknowledge it. I envision O'Reilly and RIvera as two old geezers in a retirement home in 20 years bitching about all those young whippersnappers out there and yelling at an imaginary nemesis to SHUT UP!

12. If memory serves me correctly...
wasn't it Bill O'Reilly that waged that ugly campaign to destroy the Dixie Chicks career because they said they were ashamed that Bush was from Texas? I guess what Natalie said was much worse than Mel's vile and abusive remarks and behavior.

O'REILLY: It's like going after the rappers. You don't go after the rappers. You go after the masters.
