Rice's Fallacy
Rice's Fallacy
What if Israel can't win militarily?
By Gareth Evans and Robert Malley

In explaining why the United States will not press right now for a cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah, Condoleezza Rice argues that merely returning to the status quo ante will mean relapsing into violence in the future. She has a point. But the conclusions she draws from that insight are problematic. Prolongation of hostilities comes at enormous price and will complicate, not ease, efforts to tackle underlying problems. An immediate cessation of hostilities would not, to borrow the secretary's words, offer Lebanese and Israeli civilians a false promise. Telling them they can either achieve an immediate cease fire or address root causes offers them a false choice.

2. Well,
Since she doesn't know the difference between a cease-fire and a peace treaty I suppose its a good thing she can entertain her fellow diplomats with a piano recital. Oh, and as well as not knowing the difference between a cease-fire and a peace treaty, she also doesn't know her ass from a hole in the ground.

3. False choices is what the NeoConvicts are all about.

It is either continue to wage an endless war or capitulate to an imaginary enemy.
It is give the (p)Resident imperial powers or aid the imaginary enemy.
It is give tax cuts to the rich or suffer a depressed yacht market.
We can either give tax incentives to companies to outsource their labor or have a healthy labor market in the US.
We can either give every benefit and doubt to the CORPORATISTS or have a healthy Democracy.

I vote for healthy democracy

4. Rice is phallus-y;...
...in other words, like her boss, she's a nitwit limp dick.

5. Rice is just a loyal stooge here.
She will be used up and discarded, the sacrifical goat.
