No apologies from the Dixie Chicks - On top of the world once again
The Dixie Chicks remain the top country touring act of the year, despite controversial remarks they made about President Bush last March. It is what they refer to as “the incident,” 15 words they say changed their lives forever when lead singer Natalie Maines said, “Just so you know we are ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas” and today, the group releases a brand new DVD of their world tour. “Today” national correspondent Jamie Gangel sat down to talk to them about life after “the incident.”

5. Being "from" Texas was a good way to put it. He says he lives here,
just like his daddy, but they are both the worse type of yankee carpetbaggers. They came here to make a killing and they did just that. They have never added one positive thing to the state. The name of Texas is now HATED throughout the universe (yes on Mars, also). I love those Texas girls and as someone who does NOT like country music, I bought their album and must say, I really like it.

4. Way to go, Dixie Chicks!
Just two things disappointed me:

1. They said they were ashamed Bush is from Texas, when they should have said, "We're ashamed that phony jerk PRETENDS to be from Texas." (He's from Connecticut.)

2. They made a half-hearted apology.

The Dixie Chicks may be putting themselves in an even more dangerous situation. If their profits remain the same or even increase, that sends out the message that it's OK to criticize Bush - and you might even profit from it. That's precisely where Paul Wellstone was headed when his life ended.
