Indictment reveals little hard evidence of terrorist plot
BY MAYA BELL
The Orlando Sentinel

... They acquired combats boots, a cell phone, a camera and some cash, but never stockpiled explosives, carried out a mission nor posed any real threat ...

"If the authorities created the crime, that's classic entrapment," said Jeffrey Harris, president of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers ...

Surveying the hordes of media outside the barber shop, Johnson questioned why Liberty City doesn't always merit such attention.

"People hear the word `terrorist' and come running, but we have homicides every day, and the cops don't show up asking questions for three days," he said.

1. So it was just talk. Big surprise.
How long do we put people away for talk? BTW, can I say how impressed I am that there is actually an indictment? I thought Bush didn't need that kind of thing anymore.

2. Reality is setting in about the Miami 7
The story should be about the urban plight.

3. The entrapment scenario is an issue, I think
These guys might have been just a bunch of bozos who liked to shoot their mouth off. Maybe they were thinking they could con the "Al Q" guy out of some money. It just seemed awfully convenient that they rolled this bunch up, with so little, really, on a day when they needed a distraction.

It kind of smells like the raising of the color coded terra alert used to....

5. It will be very much of an entrapment issue
These guys had no plans until the government introduced terrorist plans. They were a bunch of homeless kooks. Not causing anyone problems. In fact, they were respected in the neighborhood.

4. On the local news here in Chicago tonight, even Phil Cline, the
Superintendant of the Chicago Police Department said this whole thing was BS.

If there was any credible threat to any of the major buildings in downtown Chicago, don't you think someone would have said something to the CPD about it.

The local NBC outlet was interviewing people who worked in the Sears Tower and no one was the least bit upset about this. In fact one guy even said something along the lines that this was nothing more than a Republican ploy in an election year.

I hope the public can see this "dog and pony" show for what it is, no matter how much the corporate media tries to play it up..

6. Alberto Gonzales holding a special press conference
to announce this silly action is so denigrating of our legal system. Bush and all his minions should be tossed out on their butts.

7. "B- F-, 40, has worked on the 42nd floor for four years. She said she was
not too concerned about the most recent alleged plot, especially after hearing details of the defendants, who she said sounded like 'unorganized morons.'

'It doesn't sound they could have done much damage,' F- said."

Once Again, Sears Tower Target of Plot

A national press conference bragging we entrapped some poor nuts who lived in a warehouse, dressed in fatigues, sold shampoo on the street, and jumped over chairs in their spare time! Rover must be seeing some polling data he doesn't like. I'd guess people are increasingly uninterested in the b*s*

8. Agreed. It will be interesting to watch W
turn this into a non story after spending our tax $ for a sting operation.
