Larry Beinhart: Give George Bush His War
(snip)

The position to take is that it's not America's war at all. The issue is that it's George Bush's war. His own, personal, private obsession.

So much so that he was scheming and plotting for years, even before 9/11, to have that war. Then, after 9/11, he lied and misled us, he used members of his administration to lie and mislead, in order to convince both the congress and the American people to have that war.

Once he had the war, he and his people planned it ineptly and executed it disastrously.

It's his ineptitude and his disaster.

2. Bush's' War. Kind of like Seward's Folly
Bush's' Phony War (Against Terrorism). I really don't understand why any Democrat is skittish about being questioned for their initial support of the war. I get it. We all get it. At a time of great national unity against a real threat, an opportunist regime took the opening to cheerlead and fear-monger their way (with the help of cherry-picked intelligence) to wage a war of choice with the goal of enriching: themselves, the oil cartels, the defense industry, private contractors and assorted and sundry others with ties to the administration. NOW that we get it - we don't like it. We want out now.

3. Right on, Phoebe! I think many Americans were in agreement
w/the admin initially, especially with all the lying going on. Now that we know it was all a ploy, I'm sure many minds have changed, just as it has with the pols. We want out now; why can't the Dems voice that in unity? I like your correlation to Seward's Folly, too; there's a meme that stuck. We need one that's similar to pin on dimson for all eternity!

After all, it took a brain-dead Congress to enable.
