BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL: Dems must speak truth to power or they will lose
Edited on Sun Jun-18-06 03:20 PM by yurbud

June 18, 2006

Either the Democrats take the truth to power, as Jack Murtha has on national security, or the November elections will be lost. It's that simple.

A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

<SNIP>

You can't win a political campaign -- as BuzzFlash has noted many a time -- by "praying a lie." The longer the Democrats allow Rove to employ the "fear" playbook a third time, while our real national security is increasingly at risk due to Bush's stubborn, arrogant incompetence, the more likely they are to lose the mid-terms.

Either the Democrats take the truth to power, as Jack Murtha has on national security, or the November elections will be lost. It's that simple.

Rove has counted on the Dems on the Hill to fear "the Big Bad Wolf" of national security for two elections. He is resurrecting the tactic for a third round. With the exception of Murtha, Feingold -- and now Kerry --the Hill Democratic leadership is once again playing into Rove's hands.

Rove can rely on a created or real terrorist threat or two before November to once again make the election a referendum on fear.

5. Two big truths: we're in their for oil corps. & Iraqis want us to leave
As long as Democrats don't hit those, they will lose the debate to the Bush propaganda lies.

They are trying to argue with a fairy tale on its own terms, which is tough to do when the person who made up the fairy tale is the one who gets to make up the rules in the fairy tale universe too.

2. 100% right. Dems will lose field advantage for not making hay.
Uh, how many times have we seen that happen lately? How many more times will they chicken out? I hope I'm wrong but it ain't on the table until it's on the table.

3. Democrats need to stand up now before it is to late
Just hoping that the Repuks will blow it is no way to win. We need to fallow Murtha's lead and start to stand up for the truth
