Some Democrats Are Sensing Missed Opportunities
WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 — Democrats are heading into this year's elections in a position weaker than they had hoped for, party leaders say, stirring concern that they are letting pass an opportunity to exploit what they see as widespread Republican vulnerabilities.

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/08/politics/08dems.html?ex=1297054800&en=9562f5f4718a9fb2&ei=5090&partner=rssuserland&emc=rss

If the leadership cannot pull out an election victory in 2006, then it reveals itself as totally bankrupt and in need of major change.

1. If they wait until 2006...
it may be too late for the Dems to save the party by making the major changes that need to be made now.

2. What the hell is it going to take for party conservatives to
wake the hell up and realize they've been wrong about everything for years? A world war?

Yeah, the party leadership is totally bankrupt and out of touch. Why the fuck do they think they've been shut out of all 3 branches of government?

3. Read the damn link before getting all excited, people.
It's an Adam Nagourney piece. He's a GOP operative posing as a journalist, kinda like Judy Miller. Every article he has ever published is about what awful fuckups Democrats are and what a paragon of virture and bravery Bush is.

12. A wise man learns more...
"A wise man learns more from his enemies than a fool from his friends."

The Republican self-immolation seems to have stalled - it is time, I think, to give it a push.

5. We need a real leader
We need a real leader. someone who can break loose from the crowd, a Jack kennedy or even another Bill Clinton (only this time: one that can keep his pants zipped up), that we can focus on. Someone "sexy" who can gain media attention. Someone who stands up and articulates a coherent program instead of the bean counters and clerktypists that dominate our leadership. Why wait until 08 to get started?
We need a real leader who is our leader even in times of loss, not a Kerry who scampers away with $15million of unspent campaign money leaving us all to hold the bag.
The only one I can see who is even close to fitting this is Dean. I wish I voted for him instead of Kerry. I won't make that mistake again

11. I like Dean but ...
I think he's been so demonized (unfairly) by the Repub thugs he already has a lot of baggage (not as much as Hillary, granted). I have my sights on Wes Clark or Mark Warner. I like Feingold, but he's Jewish, so what do you think the Rethug cabal will do with that fact to try to scare everybody?
