...nation needs Tennessee's No. 1 son...
Edited on Sun Jul-20-03 07:19 AM by Skinner
...Better than any of the other candidates presently seeking the Democratic nomination, Gore has the stature, the experience, the single-minded focus, the popular appeal and a record to compare what a Bush vs. a Gore administration would produce.

A quick review of their records reveals that Gore served on a team that stimulated the economy. The Bush administration still has no sound economic policy. After two tax cuts and the Federal Reserve Board's perennial lowering of the prime interest rate, we still have over 22 million Americans out of work, and citizens needing extended unemployment compensation benefits are at an all time high. Even white-collar unemployment is skyrocketing.

Thank God that Social Security benefits did not go into a stock market that has lost over four trillion dollars since Bush moved into the White House. And we did need a ''lockbox.''

Gore would give more than lip service to ''not leaving any child behind.'' Education and preparation to be gainfully employed in our high-tech society is something that he would lead with spirit, conviction and governmental funding.

1. Yes, but.....
Gore has no Elvis in him. And you need that to win elections. He's tried repeatedly to show otherwise, but it always falls flat because it is not genuine.

2. Tenns #1 son?
pardon me, but didn't the chimp out poll gore in his home state?

well, far be it from me to discourage those that wish to divert resources from candidates that have already expressed a desire to run.

that's not like me at all. :)

....and say to hell with the disenters and run anyway. Think what a Gore/H. Clinton ticket would do, it would send the thugs into a tailspin.

on edit: The fact that they can run an economy would win them the election.

4. Gore in 2004
I understand why Gore would not want to be subjected to the Faux news junkies again. However, he could probably win. He deserves the job. Maybe 2008. Gore did not win Tenn. thanks to cat killer Frist whose company was found guilty of Medicare fraud. Actually in Tenn. black voters were misled about the day of the election, sent phony ballots. In addition roadblocks were set up in black neighborhoods to intimidate these voters.
I just heard today on the GUY JAMES SHOW that the black voters in Florida have not been restored to the roster. That alone should be enough to remove Jeb, who wouldn't be there if in 2002 he had been man enough to run on his merits and not his shameful 2000 dishonesty.
We must get those voters back on the roll if we have to personally go to Florida and drive them to register. We also must be sure that the voting machines are not fixed. I do not for one minute think that Ga. and Mo. senate races were honest (to name only two.)

6. Sometimes, I just want to bang my head against a wall until I pass out
HE'S NOT RUNNING. STOP LIVING IN FANTASYLAND.

I'd like the ghost of Bobby Kennedy to resume corporeal form and show this country what true idealism and zest for ideas means. I'd like for it to be legal for Clinton to run again as well.

This is not the time to be living in Fantasyland about Our Perfect Candidate. Kerry, Dean, Gephardt, Clark, Edwards et all are our potential candidates; we have to concentrate on helping them get better and better, rather than sighing for the White Knight who's not coming. This will get us our head handed to us in 2004.

Maybe--just maybe--Gore will run in 2008, with Hillary as VP. Until such a time, we need to stop indulging in these Gore fantasies, and should offer this columinst a good electronic smack upside the head for encouraging them.
