I hate suicide bombers. I hate the way my heart beats chaotically every time I pass by a suspicious-looking car- and every car looks suspicious these days. I hate the way Sunni mosques and Shia mosques are being targeted right and left. I hate seeing the bodies pile up in hospitals, teeth clenched in pain, wailing men and women…

But I completely understand how people get there.

One victim was holding his daughter. "The gunmen told the girl to move then shot the father," said a relative.

Would anyone be surprised if the abovementioned daughter grew up with a hate so vicious and a need for revenge so large, it dominated everything else in her life?

Or three days ago when American and Iraqi troops fired at a family traveling from one city to another, killing five members of the family.

"They are all children. They are not terrorists," shouted one relative. "Look at the children," he said as a morgue official carried a small dead child into a refrigeration room.

Who needs Al-Qaeda to recruit 'terrorists' when you have Da’awa, SCIRI and an American occupation?

1. atrocities are not an explanation to suicide bombers

Atrocities have always been committed in any war :

British against American colonists, Nazis all over Europe, French and British in Africa-Asia, Americans in the Philippines...

I mean the undiscriminate murder of civilians to get at guerillas, executions of fathers in front of their children, gathering people in churches (often elderly, women, children) and setting them on fire after locking the doors etc... etc... (popular German method in Ukraine and even in France)

This has never generated "suicide bombers" in the countries attacked that way. But it genererated resistance which of course included sacrifice, but in 99,9% of the cases the resistants wanted to survive to hit again. The suicide of the resistant occurs normally in a desperate situation when there is no other way.

The suicide bombers are the product of a distorded religious ideology and the atrocities against civilians only "a good reason"...

That's why I am surprised that "the abovementioned daughter grew up with a hate so vicious and a need for revenge so large, it dominated everything else in her life?". If she hadn't been later indoctrinated, she'd probably had picked up a gun or worked in a underground network, but not gone and blown herself up.

Or am I missing something ?

3. I agree.

Atrocities under Saddam never caused Islamic people to resort to suicide missions. But all that changed with the invasion and occupation. Why? I donno. Maybe you have an answer as to why There are suicide bombing wherever the West (I include Israel) are a presence.

technology that the U.S. had = equals the beginning of a fair fight, they wouldn't have to resort to this option.

But, when you hate enough, you use whatever weapon is available to you.

No B-52s, guess you have to use the old fashioned delivery system = car, bus, horse, dog, ...etc.

you fight with the weapons you have.
