Dubya-Cheney ties
frayed by scandal

'There has been some distance for some time'

Vice President Cheney may be losing influence over President Bush as controversies surrounding the Iraq war strain their relationship.

WASHINGTON - The CIA leak scandal has peeled back the veil on the most closely held White House secret of all: the subtle but unmistakable erosion in the bond between President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

Multiple sources close to Bush told the Daily News that while the vice president remains his boss' valued political partner and counselor, his clout has lessened - primarily as a result of issues arising from the Iraq war.

Several sources said the distance is certain to accelerate with the Oct. 28 indictment of Lewis (Scooter) Libby, Cheney's former chief of staff and geopolitical soul mate.

Earlier this year, Bush praised Cheney at a GOP campaign dinner as a "steady adviser, the solid rock - and what a decent man he is. I'm proud to be serving with him for four more years."

1. Here we go - propaganda and positioning....
. Cheney with RUmsfeld is PNAC.
. PNAC had a plan.
. The powers that be bought into it - Carlyle, Fed Society, Tri-Lateral, Council of Foreign Relations, barons of all kinds.
. The powers that be and everyone else can see that the PNAC plan was a wee bit flawed.
. The country is getting some real flak.

End result - the powers that be are not going to let the little rancher go down.

2. They may not have much choice -
I think the PNAC vision for the 21st century is a joke. It would be funny, except they seriously planned to rule the world.

They absolutely thought they could do it. In fact, they thought it would be easy. They knew the U.S. is considered the leader of the world. They would just hijack that leadership, and turn it into the "Dictator of the World". They even used the words "Benevolent Dictator"!!! Now there's an oxymoron.

Speaking of moron, I believe Bush will go down. So will Cheney and the rest of them. They were just too stupid to pull it off. And that's why they wanted to resort to force: because the barrel of a gun is a lot less complicated than a democracy.
