Sales tactics in schools by military need to get boot
Should school doors be thrown open wide for military recruiters?

Article published Tuesday, November 1, 2005

Toledo schools are hammering out guidelines governing this very issue, which puts the district in league with other schools nationwide also dealing with this...

Until such rules are in place, said Mr. Sykes, one high school, for example, might allow recruiters to set up only in a cafeteria during lunchtime; meanwhile, another school could give recruiters much freer run. Why, for example, should recruiters be allowed to yank kids out of class at will?

"That's happened at a couple of high schools, yes," said Mr. Sykes, "yet parents can't go in and pull a kid out."...

Mr. Sykes: "I'm taking a beating on this . Oh, God! You ought to see the e-mails I get, people who say I'm not even an American. And all we're looking for is uniformity."...

1. Parents of teenagers, dust off that spiel you gave your kids
back when they were little: the one that told them not to trust strangers.

Make a few updates to it. Your child is now old enough to understand a lot more. Tell your child to ALWAYS be wary of people bearing promises and/or gifts, if the people are outside his intimate family/friends circle. Specify for your child exactly WHO is within the circle of trustworthy family/friends. This should include telling your child that HIS/HER friends might be taken in by recruiters and hence might be rendered untrustworthy.

If you happen to have one of those teenagers who reliably always does exactly the opposite of what you say to do, perhaps you could say, "Sure, sign up for the military if you want to. It's your life. I'm not your boss, you know. I'm just here to pay for all your stuff, feed and insure you, and bug the shit out of you till you can finally escape from me."

Warn your child that the recruiters WILL lie to him/her, and if he/she signs the enlistment papers, you may not have the money to pay for the large legal bills it will take to MAYBE get him/her out of the commitment. Point out that in Iraq and Afghanistan, they don't allow people to sit around doing the occasional homework, playing video games, and cruising around to friends' homes in the car while listening to really good music.

2. Can't they keep lying military fools out of our schools?
Why do they need to go after the smart people, just to turn them in to viscious serial killers?

Why don't the recruiters go straight to prison thats there target market. You got rapists, murders, cold blooded sick fuckers who will give a thumbs up to a dead body, if they don't have sex with it.

The B.T.K. killer would be sgt material immediately. They got all the whack jobs the military needs who are crazy enough to guard, kill, rape and pillage another country based on lies.
