How Dubya lost his swagger
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/360664p-307263c.html

Before President Bush was reelected last November, a historical analysis commissioned by senior aide Karl Rove found a common thread among troubled second terms: scandal.

"That's one thing that will never happen to us," a top White House aide chirped at the time, confident in the Bush family's reputation for high ethical standards.

Now, what the President's father might call the "ugly S-word" has descended on his son's administration - further damaging a presidency that was already crippled and on the verge of unraveling.

"We used to have a problem with hubris," one senior Bush adviser said glumly. "Well, there ain't much swagger right now."

2. Yes, Bush lost his swagger....to be replaced by
stagger. I wonder how his weekend is going. Last I heard, Bush was taking off for Camp David. He said, "Thanks for a reason to get out of Washington". Meaning, he's having a tough time right now.

At this moment, they're discussing how they can regain their poll numbers. Bush is probably walking around the hallways, picking up Good Housekeeping magazines. He's not participating. But the rest of them are trying desperately to salvage what's left of this reign.

I see NOTHING on the horizon that will save his ass. Gas prices are not coming down, heating oil is expected to skyrocket. Iraq will continue, he's already said that. The economy will continue to spiral downward.

He's finished.

8. There's NO Way to Fix Those Poll Numbers
and they know it. Even a MIHOP/LIHOP incident will trigger impeachment. He's pulled too many sleazy tricks, there aren't any left he hasn't tried (by "he" I mean Rove and Cheney, Bush's tricks include bicycle riding and pretzel eating.)

With the incredibly shrinking economy and the population battered on all sides, Bush's inadequacies as a governor and public servant are too pronounced to ignore or explain away. As a regime reviled by the rest of the world, the Bush Boys cannot look to outsiders to bolster their standing. It truly is a perfect storm. An ongoing investigation and the threat of more indictments is just frosting on the cake. If it weren't for traitoress Judy Miller, we would have reached this point a year ago, and Bush would be history. I hope she is convicted of being an accessory to a felony.

3. bush reads?!!

"Patrick Fitzgerald's indictments are especially jarring because they also raise the dangerous specter of political hypocrisy: In the 2000 campaign, Bush ended every stump speech by placing his hand on an imaginary Bible and swearing to restore the honor and dignity of the Oval Office, "so help me God."

This is especially nauseating to me..bush broke all his promises that he never intended to keep.

4. "For a President who reads the Bible regularly..." - Right, this President
doesn't read squat, let alone the Bible. If he did read his Bible maybe he wouldn't have so much hubris to start with.
