Fintan Dunne: "Constitution WAS REJECTED - 'Democracy' Farce As 2,000 GI's Die"

So, Iraq is now a democracy, eh? And there are 2,000 bodies stacked up as the human toll paid by the people of the United States, eh ? They gave their lives so that Iraq could have a 'democracy, eh? Don't make the injured and bereaved laugh. Please. It's hurts the injured too much to snigger, and to those in mourning it's all a sick, sick joke. The people running the Iraq occupation would'nt know democracy if it threw them all out of office. As we see by their announcement that the new Iraqi constitution has been passed (?) by the Iraqi people.

What a load of total f**king bulls**t. That's why we had to wait until now to get the result. That way a decent interval has elapsed since the early announcement of the result by Iraq's self-appointed senior election official: Condoleeza Rice. The constitution was REJECTED you forked-tongued lying b**ch.

The early vote totals from Nineveh province, which suggested an overwhelming majority in favour of Iraq's draft constitution that assured its passage by national referendum, now appear to have been highly misleading.... A leading Sunni political figure has already charged that the Nineveh vote totals have been altered...

...The final figures revealed by the U.S. military liaison with the IECI suggest a voter turnout in Nineveh that strains credibility. On a day when Sunni turnout reached 88 percent in Salahuddin province and 90 percent in Fallujah, a total of only 778,000 votes -- about 60 percent of the eligible voters -- in Nineveh appears anomalous. The BBC, meanwhile, just posted this at top of front page (includes "full referendum results" (but not turnout)):

Iraq voters back new constitution

Election official Farid Ayar announcing the results
The Iraqis' handling of the poll was endorsed by UN officials
Iraqis have passed their country's new constitution, according to official results from a referendum dismissed by the opposition but commended by the UN.

Sunni "No" campaigners had hoped to block it by taking two-thirds of the vote in at least three provinces, in line with electoral rules. But they won in only two, with the swing province of Nineveh returning 44% "Yes" votes, the official count shows.

<snip>

Sunni figures talked of widespread fraud after hearing the final results.

Saleh al-Mutlaq, part of a Sunni Arab team that negotiated the constitution, called the referendum a "farce" and accused government forces of stealing ballot boxes to reduce the size of the "No" vote.
