Navy, Marines Block Commercial Email Sites
Stars and Stripes | By Sandra Jontz | October 19, 2005
Hotmail account not working? Or Yahoo!?
It’s not a glitch with the computer connection.

On Tuesday, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps blocked all access to commercial e-mail services, such as Yahoo!, Hotmail, America Online and Google, from overseas government computers.

And not just at office workstations.

The block includes access to e-mail services from computers at base libraries and liberty centers that are connected to an official government network.

“This concerns us, because so many of our patrons won’t be able to access their e-mail, and many come to the library to do just that,” said Ciro Giordano, supervisory librarian at Naval Support Activity Naples, Italy.

1. They also block liberal websites
And Armed Forces Radio is 24-7 right-wing blowhards.

If the Military really wants to limit Spam, it could blockade all mail except that which is prefaced by the person's military ID number, or a separate computer code. If illegal use of such a code was made subject to a $100 fine (for each count), the Spam would stop real fast.

3. They do not want the soldiers to hear what is coming
down in DC in the next couple of months because it would be demoralizing to realize that your commander in chief is actually your commander in treason. The indictments are dynamite for the military who has been following these guys.
