It goes without saying that human rights and the right to hold differing political views has never been subjected to a greater ordeal than is being witnessed today. This is true not only in the Third World, where even the most basic of human rights are often as far away as Breakfast at Tiffany’s. This is true even in the most admired democracy in the world
, which to a certain extent has begun an open and systematic pursuit of limiting and restricting the fundamental human and political rights of its own people.
While not yet declaring itself an open dictatorship or a totalitarian regime, it is nevertheless quite obvious that the present administration in the White House has decided to set out on an agenda that has grossly altered the trends of political and social development, which began with the coming of the Prophets and has entailed a costly struggle for millions of this planet’s inhabitants over the centuries.
Moreover, the White House has styled itself as the infallible judge of all other people, who may not be conducive to the agenda pursued by the neo-con and old-con establishments in the United States, or who may have a different view as to how to deal with the world’s problems.
To add fuel to fire, the White House has openly attacked political regimes that accepted within their own constituencies, without having any inkling as to the real merits and positive aspects of such regimes or how they operate. Bush’ latest attack against the elections in Iran is a case in point.
