Failing oath of office

Failing oath of office

The Downing Street memoranda provides conclusive proof that the Bush administration explicitly lied to the country and the Congress when it claimed that no decision had been taken to attack Iraq. It fiddled the intelligence. It pretended to seek a diplomatic solution in the United Nations, and in fact, lied to the United Nations.

Only a few years ago, a president was impeached for a consensual sexual affair. When will our Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, our Congressmen Mike Michaud and Tom Allen, call for the impeachment of George W. Bush and the prosecution of high administration officials for war crimes in an illegal and unconstitutional war?

Rhetorical question, of course. They're not going to do squat. They're going to go on voting billions of dollars for war and corruption, and allowing the murder of our young people in uniform and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians.

The Congress of the United States in both houses, with the exception of a very few members, is craven, corrupt and conscienceless. Snowe and Collins, Michaud and Allen, Republicans and Democrats alike, are failing their oath of office to protect the Constitution and the United States of America. They too are deserving of impeachment.

Maggie Smith must be spinning in her grave.
