Protestors Angry Over UH Negotiations With Navy

HONOLULU -- The occupation of Bachman Hall may be over, but the dispute between the University of Hawaii's administration and protestors has been rekindled.

Protestors vacated the president's office 12 days ago, stipulating to a number of what they call agreements about how to deal with a proposed military-related research project.

Interim President David McClain Monday issued a statement that said he has not agreed to those stipulations.

McClain said he specifically objects to the agenda set for a meeting with the protestors Wednesday. He said he could not agree to stop negotiations with the Navy because the regents expect full details this fall about the proposal. <snip>
