It's the law, but Navy wife's treatment is nothing short of criminalhttp://seattlepi.nwsource.com/paynter/220359_paynter18.htmlNearly three years ago you may have read about it here. A then 19-year-old Everett-based Navy wife, thrilled and already painting a nursery, learned that the fetus she carried was growing with virtually no brain and literally had no chance to live.
But her pain was soon compounded when Naval health care refused her an abortion

And, following torturous court battles and a sternly worded judge's ruling in the couple's favor, that's precisely what the Navy did. But only after 17 weeks of the young woman living with the fact that her baby was growing without a brain.
Ever since, citing the 1979 Hyde Amendment barring the government from paying for abortions for any cause save the life of the mother, the Navy has been fighting hard to get its $3,000 back.
So cruel. So inhumane. How can anyone want to torture families like this forcing them to continue a pregnency knowing the whole time it is doomed?
