Pie-Faced (In Defense Of Pie Throwing)
Why throwing a pie at someone who deserves it is one of the most celebrated traditions in our so-called culture.

By Gersh Kuntzman
Newsweek

Updated: 4:30 p.m. ET April 18, 2005

April 18 - The schedule of lecturers on college campuses around the country has begun reading like the police blotter: Conservative author Ann Coulter—hit by a pie tossed by two attackers last year. Conservative editor William Kristol—hit by an ice cream pie at a Quaker college in Indiana in March. Really conservative guy Pat Buchanan hit by salad dressing two days later. Liberal-turned-conservative author David Horowitz—hit by a chocolate cream pie a few days after that.

1. Primates throw poo because they can't talk...
It is comedy to see the clips of these folks getting nailed, but kind of getting old.

I guess the young folks are full of the piss and vinegar, but when they become the soccer dads they are destined for, they will mellow.

The real people who want change are active in the community and get others out to the polls.

Cheers.

2. Yes the pies are funny,

But I wonder if the folks who chuckle over Coulter getting pied will retain their lax attitude if 20 or so Freepers sneak into Hillaries or Boxers next speech and throw a few dozen rotten tomatoes at her.

Again, pie in the kisser is funny. But in this case the laughs are comming at the expense of gravitas.

it's for people who DESERVE it - that would be asshole conservatives, who are gung-ho for war based on a pack of LIES but get all bent out of shape over a pie in the face. THEY CAN F*** THEMSELVES.

3. Nothing gets the GOPpie wingers bent outta shape...
...quite as successfully as making them look undignified.

Since none of them has anything that remotely resembles a sense of humor (or even a sense of proportion,) this is not difficult.

What an interesting coincidence that both of the posts earnestly more-in-sorrow-than-in-anger finger-wagging about pie throwing are by folks with less than 100 posts.

Does that mean anything to anyone else?

Curiously,
Bright
