Red Sox-Yankees: It’s enough already

PHILADELPHIA -- It’s official. The Red Sox and Yankees have surpassed Roseanne Barr and Tom Arnold for the most annoying, bickering couple in history. You might have thought that the Red Sox ending 86 years of ineptitude last fall would have eased the tensions between Boston and New York. But it didn’t.

All the Red Sox’s comeback from a 3-0 deficit against the Yanks in the American League Championship Series and sweep of the Cardinals in the World Series did was inspire all of those bleeding-heart, terminal New Englanders (you know the usual suspects: Stephen King, Ben Affleck, Peter Gammons, Jim Salisbury, etc.) to add an addendum to their monotonous stories.

And so, when the Sox and Yanks got back at it with a series each in the Bronx and Boston during the opening 10 games of this season, someone was bound to don the clown’s nose and garner the undivided, overblown attention of the press. Ladies and gentlemen, playing the part of Bozo this time is Chris House.

<snip>As for the Yankees and Red Sox, what level of outrageousness remains for these bloated franchises and their megalomaniacal fans? A mud-wrestling match between general managers Brian Cashman and Theo Epstein?

1. CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!
Those are the words I want to hear when the World Series is over. Then maybe we who are the rest of America and don't give a damn about the Red Cox and the Skankees can just shut the MFers up! I actually (shudder) rooted for the Cardinals in the World Series last year because of all the publicity the east coast teams get at the expense of everyone else. How about the formation of a new league, the Red Sox and Yankees being the only two members? Then maybe they'd just go away and leave the rest of us alone.

3. You are correct
The Twins have a good minor league system (I have seen a few of them pass through here in the past few years) and the White Sox have built themselves a good team. Those two teams may be building a pretty good rivalry. Yay Midwest! Sort of a Twins fan because of the one time minor league connection and the contraction talk a couple of years ago. But the Cubs and White Sox would be great in the World Series.
