Society. Anybody else feel more optimistic...
when you were 10 years younger? (e.g. from 08 April 1995)

I did. The world seemed newer, fresher, filled with opportunities. I felt alive. Filled with hope. A chance to be alive. A chance to live. A chance to love. A chance to be loved.

Today? Offshoring, unbridled greed, shameless greed, nobody bothering to hide their greed. Violence, war, manufactured war... manufactured music, manufactured pop stars who all look alike... maybe even sound alike... manufactured television - none of which requires any or even attempts to cultivate intelligence in the brains of the viewers... manufactured movies, most of which are 'prequels', 'remakes', or the same dung shoved down our throats because they think it'll make money because everyone is too terrified to try anything NEW because it's too risky and may not make any money... meanwhile they still don't understand why the gross majority of those remakes and prequels don't make any money...

People out for themselves, at the cost of others. People who spread vicious rumors and those who listen blindly believe. Selfish ingrates and it's not because the person has a mental illness, they're just willfully vile.

Lawsuits at every turn. Doctors being pitied because they're only human and make mistakes and shouldn't be sued for heaps of money when they make a mistake that affects the patient so significantly, yet anyone making under $50k/yr doing a grunt job who makes a mistake gets demoted, sacked on the spot, or whatever... the baking industry perverting elections and bribing politicians into thinking people who take out loans are all deadbeats so bankruptcy laws get changed in their favor - when nobody in power bothers to look to see how the sharks out there have no qualms giving people more and more and more cards and money while lowering the payback rate...

Wasting resources, reading up on past leaders who willfully decided to NOT take a lesson from the oil crunch of the 1970s... disposable products; cheaper to waste and throw than to re-use. An economy based on utter waste.

Disposable people.

Wasted people.

Ran by people who are less than human waste.

Forgive me, but our civilization seems degenerate, warped, inhumane, rotten to the core. In a word: Uncivilized.

Who needs peak oil? Our society is creatively bankrupt and has been for some time. Devoid of TRUE prosperity; something the moneyfuckers will NEVER understand. Devoid of even the base concept Christ founded; while those who claim to be Believers do the exact opposite of what Christ taught.

Ambivalence. I just don't care about anything outside the microcosm. There's little point.

1. you are on the down spiral for now
but if you allow it, the positive will shine in
the bull shit is so obvious
pretense melts away and gives death to what does not matter.i really believe the paper empire is consuming itself.

here is a spiritual fantasy for you: "the president of the united states becomes enlightened, heals america and awakens humanity"

3. Hell Yeah,
I was 19 years old and in college.

But I offer the counterpoint: People are good. Of this I am sure. We will prevail, we will surivive, and things are going to get better.

I'm just working to make sure it happens during my lifetime.

One of my favorite quotes: "I can think of no more stirring symbol of man's humanity to man than a fire engine." -Kurt Vonnegut
