SEND THIS to your favorite dems! - Senate Democrats: Missing In Action -
This is an excellent and concise article that should be sent to all democrats, everywhere! "WHAT ARE THEY AFRAID OF", indeed.

==========================================
Senate Democrats: Missing In Action
Bill Press - March 31, 2005

(snip....)
This is bad news for the country. Unlike most of our allies, we Americans suffer from having only two major parties to choose from. Once there’s only one party left (if that’s not already the case), there will no longer be any competition for good ideas — and public policy will sink even lower.

But the cowardice of Democrats is bad news — most of all for the Democratic Party itself. This president is the worst in our lifetime. Why are Democrats so hesitant to take him on? What are they afraid of? What do Democrats stand for anymore? The truth is, I don’t know.

But I do know this: Until they start acting like a real opposition party, Democrats might just as well forget all their bold talk of taking back Congress in 2006. The times demand a choice, not an echo. Democrats will never regain power until they stop playing Republican Lite.

4. FEAR
Fear of being called "commies" for wanting to regulate business, insure worker safety and control pollution.

Fear of being called "pro-death" for wanting to insure women their right to choose what to do with their own bodies and to support individuals to die in the way THEY want to die.

Fear of being called "big government" for wanting kids to have access pre-school programs.

Fear of being called "anti-business" for wanting to curb the exporting jobs overseas.

Fear of being called "soft on terrorism" for wanting to stand up for the constitution.

I could go on.

5. Agreed -
The Rove Republicans have mastered the art of labeling. They have sold positive labels for negative actions so well that the media have adopted most of them and the Dems that feel otherwise are immediately labeled with an appropriate negative label that is then also adopted and chanted relentlessly.

I believe our short-attention span media is at fault on this.

Everything now has to be bought or sold in a soundbite.
