Malkin and freeper-wannabes blame courthouse shooting on victim!

It only took the radical conservative wing of the Republican Party twenty-four hours to find someone in addition to Brian Nichols to blame for the horrific courthouse shootings in Georgia on Friday.

Female law enforcement officers.

That's right, the women who put their lives on the line for average citizens every single day, and who are required, every bit as much as their male counterparts, to attend and complete rigorous police academy training.

According to radical conservative blogger Michelle Malkin (see story), it's not merely the homicidal intent of the now-infamous courthouse shooter, Nichols, which is to blame for the Friday morning incident, which left four dead and several wounded in a downtown Atlanta courthouse.

It's also the female sheriff's deputy who's currently in an Atlanta hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

Malkin approvingly cited mail she had received suggesting that because the sheriff's deputy charged with escorting Nichols to court was a woman, she could not possibly have been expected to safely and competently transport the accused rapist from one location to another. Nichols disarmed and shot the female deputy escorting him and proceeded to a nearby courtroom to kill a judge and a stenographer and (later, at another location, it is believed) a customs agent.

:grr:

In case anyone was confused about the right-wing agenda, there it is: 'Ladies, stay home where you belong.'

1. It's a reasonable issue whether a law enforcement officer

ought to hve strength and/or size commeasurate with a prisoner they are escorting or if multiple officers should perform the taks when they are not. (There are some bulked-up prisoners who would be bigger than any likely officer.)

However, a more important question is whether the escort should be armed with a deadly weapon at all. In many courthouses around here they are not. SO the prisoner can tack the escort but it is unlikely to do them any good because they will not be armed if they succeed and they will be subject to attack by out-of-reach armed officers after the attack.

10. IMHO, any dangerous prisoner being transported should have
more than one escort, and should at least be cuffed until he reaches the courtroom.

25. Its about, Tatics, Training and Doctorine, not sex
A female deputy, or deputies should be more than able to handle a prisionor larger and stronger then they are if the officers are properly trained and equiped it shouldn't matter the sex of the offier.

Does anyone think that Malkin has a barefoot and pregnant fetish?

2. Malkin Has Inherited The Role Of Republican Apologist
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 07:02 AM by mhr
She and her ilk must defend their position that "all is right" in their Republican Utopia by finding scapegoats at every turn.

Without scapegoats, Republicans could never defend the true Dystopia of their policies and vision. Otherwise, their Emperors will be seen to have no clothes.

Republican philosophy demands an escape clause from reality. Malkin is merely a cheerleader reinforcing Republican dysfunctionalism.

6. The female deputy probably would have loved some back-up and
a sole male deputy charged with escorting this accused rapist probably also would have been happy to have another deputy with him. I think the bigger issue, which the cable news outlets touched upon briefly, is that law enforcement and the courts are overwhelmed by the number of criminals in the system. There probably wasn't another deputy available to help out this one woman.

11. Here in the L.A. area, many male police are medium height and weight,
height around ... 5'6", weight commensurate with height. I doubt just one of them by himself could take down a really big guy.

9. It would have better to have had more than one officer or to have her
be unarmed. I also wonder if this was an 'easy' duty given to officers who are recovering from illness etc. If it was, that notion should stop.

12. TWO MALE officers were attacked in their car and I believe
killed by a prisoner they were transporting. He somehow climbed over the back seat and got a gun. This was somewhere in South Florida around 1998 or so. It has nothing to do with male or female--it is training and be attentive to what's going on.

and Malkin has the audacity to criticize her????? Sorry, but that's way out of line--and typical for her type of conservative.

Edited to add:
And you can bet your bottom dollar that if the deputy had been male, Malkin would have been screaming about how terrible it was they couldn't have simply shot the rapist without giving him a trial or something else like that.

17. THE ADVOCATE STRIKES AGAIN! MALKIN EDITS ARTICLE.
Edited on Sun Mar-13-05 10:32 AM by nashuaadvocate
Three days ago we got InstaPundit.com, the #4 blogger in America, to change a story based on our criticism.

Now Michelle Malkin (#11, by one measure) has changed her story on the Georgia courthouse slayings after criticism from The Advocate.

See here for the "corrective" action taken by Malkin.

See here for our response (see the new "Editor's Note" at the base of the article).

These conservative bloggers are pathetic.

What would they do without progressive bloggers helping them to avoid appearing as the bigots and/or woeful incompetents they are?

Officers?

I wish I had access to the stats. Any damned journalist worth their salt would counter this with the facts (rates by gender).

Damn I hate American society somedays....
