Now, however, our international enemy -- Islamic radicalism -- is actually the polar opposite of what liberals stand for -- their actions on women rights are deplorable, they insist on theocracy, they loooveee torture and the death penalty, they demand to control the culture (TV, movies, music), they rail against rampant sexuality, they seek to spread their ideology via force, and they have a well-defined black-and-white sense of truth.

Remind you of a certain American party?

That's why hysterical assertions by the wingers that liberals hate America and want the terrorists to win are so absurd. As absurd as it would've been to claim that Reagan wanted the Communists to win the Cold War. The Taliban/Al Qaida/Hezbollah/Jihadists of the world are the exact embodiment of evil in the liberal mind. They are everything we are against, and against everything we are for.

In fact, they are exactly what we see in the Republican Party as the GOP continues to consolidate power -- creeping theocracy, moralizing, us versus them, embrace of torture, the need to constantly declare jihad on someone, hysterics over football-game nipples, control over "decency" on the airwaves, lyrics censorship, hostility to women freedoms, curtaling of civil liberties, and so on.

1. I agree totally! Their words and their actions don't match....

That, to me, points to a ploy. But what ploy, prey tell?

Could it be the reconditioning of America to a Corporate America? Look at it....All of the changes and things we are not to do anymore are the same as at work...pay for legals and illegals will level out for the job they do (we would see pay lower)....work place behavior rules would apply all the time....we can't sue or win at any issue against the corporation...no recourse....just work and taxes...no right except worker's rights.

2. That's because for the American Taliban

it isn't about freedom versus theocracy, it is about christianity versus the heathens. Both Islamo-fascism and Christo-fascism are authoritarian in the way that both Naziism and Communism are authoritarian.

Liberals see
Theocracy vs. Freethinking

Conservatives see
Fundamentalists Christianity versus everybody else (including Christians who don't agree with their theo-corporate agenda)

3. conservative strategists know this.

the corporate oligarchy and their theocratic shills{i.e. pat robertson, jerry falwell. billy graham, etc} simply play on the {willfull} ignorance of the masses.

in a way, it's far more cynical and sinister than islamic fundamentalism.
but they'll both killya if you're not on the right side of god.

4. Like all fundamentalists, the American Taliban

the Christian, conservative far right, knows that it is right. They will not be swayed. They are on a mission from GOD. There is no atrocity so heinous that it will deter them from creating the theocracy their lord demands. All those who stand in the way are evil and must be converted or at least marginalized.
