1. Gosh, politicians are such whores
Now how did I know that both Delaware senators would be gung-ho on the bankruptcy bill?

6. An idea I posted earlier
is that I'm wondering if any of these dicks have interests in these credit counseling agencies?? I'm doing some research in between reading tonight's posts and it's going slow. But these counseling services were pushed hard with this bill, so if there are any special interests, why not vote for it if it means extra $$ in their pockets?

10. The answer is MONEY!
Believe me! Their are many Democratic senators that are paid off by big corporations.

These corporations threaten the Senators with cutting off money for their campaigns or their "under-the-table" retirement accounts.

They certainly didn't vote for this bill because their constituents wanted them to do so.

Most of politicians in Washington have been bought-off. Until we throw the bums out, they will continue to vote in their own interest or the interest of the big corporations.

We have let them get away with it for so long that they think that there are NO consequences.

4. I always hold my breath when I check to see if Ron Wyden's name appears.
Lately he's been weaving in and out of the Democratic circle of values. Thank goodness he stayed true to the cause, this time.

5. Thanks for posting that info
I'm printing it up as I type, yep I'm in MS but if I send any cash it will be to oust one of these bastards.

Biden is such a skumsucking traitor, old people eating catfood to say alive. Sick people punished for accidental misfortune, yes they are going down!!!

7. Tim Johnson of South Dakota...

... is not known for being in Citibank's pocket, as Bill Janklow was. I was curious myself as to what made my Senator vote this way. He is a former prosecutor (Clay County, So Dak, home of Univ of South Dakota) so maybe it is a prior exprience. I am going to email him right now and ask why.

8. I am speechless...How can any of them vote for this bill? Why? I want to
Edited on Fri Mar-11-05 01:07 AM by Pachamama
hear from every single one of them what their reason for supporting this bill was....There is absolutely no reason and nothing in the bill that protects "consumers" and its atrocious! The fact that amendments for exemptions for people from the military or people with medical bills were rejected is disgusting and shameful. To think that we might have soldiers returning from Iraq and that their families are struggling or that they need to declare bankruptcy and are going to forever be on the tread mill of debt is horrible. Even the credit card companies themselves show in their research that the "shopping mall" spenders who abuse credit cards only amount to 10% of people who file for bankruptcy. The top reason is medical bills. And given what people are facing in this country with no medical insurance and even those with medical insurance facing sometimes a catastrophic event, they will lose everything now.

Like I said, I'm speechless...how ANYONE, Democrat or Republican could have voted for this bill unless they are beholden to the Credit Card companies first and foremost, is beyond me. I think that we are witnessing the fact that even our elected officials aren't looking out for any of us.

Howard Dean has his work cut out for him...given the current picture, the Democratic Party is already falling apart....the fact that they cannot realize that if this party has any future, they need to establish themselves as the voice against the majority that is trying to destroy this country and the middle class. The fact that the Dems can't every time it comes to votes like this stand up as a block and vote NO, is beyond me. If they think it means their future to being re-elected, they are greatly mistaken. I'm so tired of these so called Dems selling out...I've already decided that I'm not voting for Feinstein in CA in 2006 because of some of her recent actions and votes. When she introduced Condi Rice at the hearings with glowing reviews, that was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I will find a good 3rd Party candidate (or Dem challenger) that I can feel good about supporting. And if that means CA ends up with a Republican Senator in 2006, then so be it, because its not like its going to change things and I can't tell the difference between the Dems and Republicans much when they vote like they did on bills like this Bankruptcy bill... :grr:
