"Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past."
Words from Orwell's 1984, and they cut straight to the heart of Big Brother's power. Information manipulation is the most insidious -- and the most potent -- form of control because it is the most difficult to detect and undo. Rewrite "the truth" and you rewrite history ... and in rewriting history, you steer the future. We find ourselves today living in a bizarre media vacuum of a country, run by a deluded boy king who personifies Big Brother's maxims: war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength.

There is a total lack of accountability in this administration. What makes this possible is the administration's flat refusal to give a damn about reality, coupled with an American populace largely too ignorant and feeble-minded to know better.

They plaster yellow ribbons and star-spangled W's all over their SUVs in a desperate bid to be part of a group, to show loyalty, subscribing to a reality so warped that we are expected to find peace through war, freedom through slavery, and strength in ignorance.
