Violent anti-Bush protest in Chile injures 3

SANTIAGO,Chile (AP) - Police in the Chilean port city Valparaiso used tear gas and water trucks Tuesday to disperse scores of university students protesting against the weekend Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summit and the visit of President George W. Bush.

Authorities said one police officer and two television camera crew members were injured, one of them with two broken ribs. At least two demonstrators were detained.

Masked students set a U.S. flag on fire and threw firebombs and rocks at riot police and burned a police water truck.

It was the first clash in the series of anti-APEC and anti-Bush protests announced by leftist and anti-globalization groups.
