Canadians vote Bush least-liked president
U.S. President George W. Bush is the most unpopular American president in recent memory among Canadians, with more than 60 per cent saying they have an unfavourable opinion of him, according to a new poll by Environics Research Group Ltd.

Relations between Mr. Bush and Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien have been strained over the U.S. decision to invade Iraq, among other issues, but most Canadians blame the American President for the worsening climate, Environics said in a poll released exclusively to The Globe and Mail.

Environics senior associate Derek Leebosh said that, while Canadians maintain a favourable attitude toward the United States, Mr. Bush is deeply unpopular here.

1. I'm going to Canada next week
We couldn't think of a better country in which to spend our vacation. Now I'm doubly glad we're going.

Canadians are SO smart! :-)

4. I Love Canada
We are going for our week vacation in Quebec. My children will never see Disney World (wouldn't give one of my dollars to FLA) I have always enjoyed going to Canada and talking with Canadians. My last extended stay there was in 1992 pre-election. I had all my anti-Bush I pins on and got stopped by many Canadians (we were in Alberta and BC). They know more about our politics than most people on run into in the states. It is my hope to retire there.

23. I'm going there too
I'm getting married next month and afterward we're going to run off to Montreal for a few days. I've never been there, and I can't wait to go - will make sure to wear all my anti-chimp pins! I also have the T-shirt of that Nation cover with Chimpy as Alfred E. Neuman - must not forget to pack that one!

8. Not sure about the surfing
Snowboarding though! :-)

And there's a beach in New Brunswick that claims it has the warmest water north of Virginia. I know I don't go in the ocean here in Maine but I may just have to test the truth to their statement next week.

21. Excellent surfing
Off the west coast of Vancouver Island. And beautiful beaches that are still unspoiled even with the number of tourists finding us.

2. Canadians can ask of Americans
Like wtf are you doing electing a dimwitted warmonger like that joke Bush?

I can't believe that Canadians hold a favorable view for Americans because WE let Bush take the WH and make this big stinking mess. If they dislike some of us I can understand. But I like them a lot.

Is it true Jeb Bush was pleading for Canadians to come back and vacation in FLorida? Seems they see guilt by sibling association going. Good for them. Jeb be nasty, too!

5. Exactly. How long until the world stops saying ...
... "We like America, just not Bush," and starts saying, "We don't like either America or Bush." Bush, Bushism, and a Bush-tolerant America are killing the U.S. image slowly but surely. How does it affect our foreign sales, our reputations, our ability to travel? Bush is a nightmare.

19. Gulliver...
I think Canadians (like me) and the rest of the world will say "We don't like Americans or like Bush" if the Americans elect him in 2004.

Most of my fellow Canadians look at Bush & Co. as very dangerous to the security of the world - besides being an A-1 laughingstock.

Because Bush was selected for pResident, and the country didn't raise a hue and cry (which still puzzles many Canadians, and probably the rest of the world), if he is elected this time, then we will think the Americans are really nuts, and I think the world's opinion of the US would degenerate even further.

Seeing the Americans turf him and his administration out in 2004 would cause a huge sigh of relief all over the world.

Americans - it's up to you! Go get 'em!

22. Well said, freeforall.
If the chimp actually does get elected and not selected, we will certainly wonder about American sanity. So you'd better get to work securing those voting machines and make sure that you get rid of that moran.

6. Jeb was in Toronto last week for 2 or 3 days begging for tourists to go
to Florida...One of his little speeches I actually heard him say "my brother is naturally disappointed Canada didn't join us in Iraq" but he understands the importance of the relationship between our countries....I think Chretien is probably relieved he doesn't have to go to the ranch! hahaha

9. We didn't elect him
That, I believe, is our only saving grace -- he was not elected.

he was not elected and yet he sits in the position of president. i think that fact shows cause for a major overhall to our government.

3. Our educational system's failings seems to be showing
It always ranks low relative to the other countries. Proof of it: the Krawford Kowboy still has a 60% approval rating in the US. Canadian, Britains and citizens of other countries look at him as the freaking idiot that he really is.

11. What do the latest U.S. polls say about Bush's approval rating
on foreign policy? I remember when a high percentage of Americans thought approved of his handling of foreign policy. I couldn't understand that.

If we had an honest media, Bush would be hammered night and day for failing to get foreign countries on board before invading Iraq. In the first Gulf War, we taxpayers only footed a small portion of the bill. Now we're paying for almost everything.

Why didn't the media inform the public that the Bush sons have the reverse Midas touch. They have a history of almost bankrupting thriving institutions (Neil and the savings and loan; Jeb and Florida; Shrub and every business he was in)

17. Unfortunately, it's spilling over to ordinary Americans.
There were reports on our local tv news of Washingtonian campers being attacked in B.C. and the only thing they could figure out was that it was anti-American sentiment.

A couple of months ago during the height of "flag fever" some Washingtonians left a nasty note on the car of a Canadian shopper near the border.

And BCers are generally laid back people.

24. what a coincidence
I bet if there was an HONEST poll he would also be the least liked "president" among U.S. Citizens -- as far as I know, he is the only one who had to steal an election since Ronnie Raygun's October Surprise.
