Blair told to refuse his US honour
http://www.thescotsman.co.uk/index.cfm?id=758722003

TONY Blair was last night under intense pressure from the Labour benches to turn down a prestigious Congressional Gold Medal from George Bush, the United States president, as the political fall-out from the Iraq conflict continued to bedevil the Prime Minister.

One back-bench Labour MP said accepting the honour would be like "taking an award from Satan" as speculation mounted at Westminster that Mr Blair would have to refuse the medal.

The traumas faced by the war allies are set to overshadow next week’s meeting. There are very real fears at Westminster that the medal award could provoke a domestic backlash against Mr Blair. The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: "There will not be any presentation on this trip. That process is still going through in the US, it is a process point in terms of Congress."

1. Only In Bush's administration
Only in the Bush White house could a man be given a medal for starting a war based on a lie that killed thousands of innocent civilians.
Luckily, the Bush tactic of Stonewall, Ignore and Lie isn't working well over there.Pity it works so well here.

Vote Independent....The Dem's are only slightly better.

3. Taking an award from Satan.
I wonder if that is the first time Bush has been referred to as Satan by a foreign government official.

4. The two Britons at Guantanamo are also a big issue
He added: "If it does matter for something, I think a special relationship or that degree of influence has to be a two-way street. What we seem to be encountering at this stage is very much one-way traffic."

There is no "special relationship" when it comes to George Bush, he is a sociopath that always uses people to further his own ends. Bush will not repatriate the two Britons at Guantanamo.

Blair will come back to Britain empty handed!

5. I was hoping those 2 U.K. citizens would be sent back.
It would set a precedent, and enable other countries to reclaim their citizens. (It would also spare us the horror of executing people after secret trials.)

6. I think they will be.
There is no way Blair can allow Bush to execute these men. He will have to cash in all his IOUs and Bush will have to deliver. They will make it a non precedent by refering to some kind of "coalition force agreement".
