Now a 9/11 film, Bollywood style
NEW YORK: "Bandhak", a Hindi feature film about the 9/11 backlash in the US, is to be released in December.

The film, first screened at a California festival on the third anniversary of 9/11, was shown at the Indo-American Art Council's diaspora film festival here.

The story revolves around Sachdev, a professional living in Oklahoma who is killed by a racist following the World Trade Centre attack. His brother Baldev, in a frenzy of revenge, takes a white man hostage.

1. If they break out into song...
I'm in. I dig Hindi pop.

In moderation.

Sporadically.

Occasionally.

Fortnightly.

2. Speaking of Hindi Pop
Ever listen to Monsoon? (Sheila Chandra's old band).

I'd watch more Bollywood movies, but I just hate musicals. In any language.

3. Sounds like a serious movie
and one I'd like to see.

And I also love the music and dancing in Bollywood pop films.

4. I think the majority of post-911-related hate crime victims in the US...
..were Sikhs. Turbanophobia.

I don't know how Sikhs feature in Bollywood movies, though (probably not very prominently). The character's names do not seem like they are supposed to be Sikhs.
