Board of Elections suspends ballot audit (Charlotte)
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 02:54 PM by jdj
This is a hoot, the republicans got this recount shut down because the repuke's campaign manager was standing too close to the ballots (??), the board asked him to back off, so another repuke filed a temp. injuction. Hooterville shenanigans in the nation's banking capital. Amazing.

"The Mecklenburg County Board of Elections office has stopped counting provisional ballots and it’s anyone’s guess as to when the at-large commission race will be decided.

An audit of results last week found earlier totals were wrong and the board has been auditing ballots to come up with an official count.

An early tally of the at-large commissioner's race shows that just 28 votes separate Republican Ruth Samuelson and Democrat Wilhelmenia Rembert.

The board announced the suspension at 1 p.m. Wednesday after learning that a judge approved a temporary injunction filed by (republican) commissioner-elect Dan Bishop"

3. they got the election results overturned last Thursday when
they noticed 4000 more votes than voters. Ballot tampering is only a conspiracy theory for democrats, for republicans it is a call to action.

7. this story has been changed since I posted it, here is how
the first four paragraphs read now:

"The Mecklenburg County elections board has temporarily stopped counting ballots following a judge's order.

Republican Brian Francis, campaign manager for at-large candidate Ruth Samuelson, obtained a temporary restraining order today after arguing that the elections board was illegally prohibiting him from closely observing the counting of provisional ballots.

N.C. Superior Court Judge David Cayer ordered the board to allow Francis or any member of the public to "observe the detail of the counting processes employed by the board."

Cayer added that Francis should not interfere with the orderly counting of the ballots."

apparently this will delay the count by ten days.
