Judge Removes Foreman From Peterson Jury
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - The judge in the Scott Peterson (news - web sites) murder trial removed the foreman from the jury Wednesday, the second time in two days a juror has been sent home.

Must be something really bad happening in Fallujah to justify another distraction dump.

I think he did it, but I don't think there is the evidence to convict him.

5. You are very savvy
Just because Nancy Grace says he did it doesn't mean you can convict him. People seem so reluctant to recognize that the state (still, until Patriot Act3?) has to prove a case.

38. That "media whore/drama queen"...
just happened to be one of the high-profile attorneys who defended President Clinton during the impeachment debacle.

Without her voice and others like her Clinton may been convicted of commiting perjury. Nancy Grace was one of the most vocal attorneys on the talk show circuit refuting the "facts" of the religiously insane Ken Starr.

4. Here's a report from Islamonline
I can't vouch for the accuracy, but makes you wonder. Sent to me by a friend in Turkey.

US Troops Reportedly Gassing Fallujah

FALLUJAH, November 10 (IslamOnline.net & News Agencies) - US troops are reportedly using chemical weapons and poisonous gas in its large-scale offensive on the Iraqi resistance bastion of Fallujah, a grim reminder of Saddam Hussein’s alleged gassing of the Kurds in 1988.

“The US occupation troops are gassing resistance fighters and confronting them with internationally-banned chemical weapons,” resistance sources told Al-Quds Press Wednesday, November 10.

The fatal weapons led to the deaths of tens of innocent civilians, whose bodies litter sidewalks and streets, they added. “They use chemical weapons out of despair and helplessness in the face of the steadfast and fierce resistance put up by Fallujah people, who drove US troops out of several districts, hoisting proudly Iraqi flags on them. Resistance has also managed to destroy and set fire to a large number of US tanks and vehicles.

“The US troops have sprayed chemical and nerve gases on resistance fighters, turning them hysteric in a heartbreaking scene,” an Iraqi doctor, who requested anonymity, told Al-Quds Press.

I think after we learned about Otto Reich in Reagan's Office of Public Diplomacy, in the State Department, and learned among his tricks was planting bogus stories and letters to the editor here and in foreign papers, we can of course expect we will be prevented from hearing real stories, as well.

There's a hell of a lot going on beyond the perennial space and time blocking long, drawn-out stories like this one, and the bogus story on the Democratic Senator, Gary Condit.

We really need to find a way to discover the real news, and get past the stories which are politically comfortable for reporters who don't want to take chances doing political stories, like the ones Democrats need to see.

Yeah, that "beyond reasonable doubt" standard is such a pain.

NOTE:

I'm not expressing any opinion here as to whether Scott did it.
I'm merely suggesting that you may want to consider whether *YOU*
may someday be glad that the standard is set so high.

23. It is "beyond a reasonable doubt"...
... not beyond any doubt. I sincerely doubt that there is any reasonable doubt left in this case, but doubt can always be created if you have enough money for lawyers it would seem.

36. Scott is guilty in my humble opinion...
and if he is found guilty then justice WILL be served.

I've been watching coverage on this trial since it started and the evidence IS overwhelming that Scott did murder his wife.

Your opinion is subjective. What about Laci Peterson's civil rights? And what about baby Connor's civil rights?

can someone explain to me why Amber Fry needs an attorney? And why Dan Abrams has her on every show? I mean, does this woman do anything, other than appear on talk shows?

Just curious.

19. Beyond Stupid
What's wrong with California anyway. 5 1/2 months for a murder trial? Woulda been two weeks, tops, here in Tennessee. Those CA judges have got to get a grip.

30. Gawd, don't use TN as a standard for justice!
The fact that the prosecution took 5-1/2 hours to give it's opening statement might have something to do with the length of this trial.

Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 11:18 AM by grumpy old fart
At least we have judges who wouldn't let the prosecution ramble on for 5 1/2 hours in opening statement, or present over 100 witness in a run of the mill case like this...course, I'm talking West Tennessee.... ;-)

24. This sentence form the cnn story is weird:
"Referring to the reason the judge is taking certain jurors off, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said: "The point is that the judge is determined to keep this thing moving and he's getting rid of jurors who are impediments."

http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/11/10/peterson.trial/index.html

OK, I don't know anything about Toobin, but is that a legitimate statement? If they were hung because of one or two jurors, could the judge dump that juror and get another? Would the judge even have access to how many jurors-and who they are- that might be holding things up? That doesn't seem right to me.

34. What if the media had devoted as much time & investigation to:
1) The real story of 9/11?

2) The leadup to the Iraq War?

3) BBV?

Well, various Republicans might be miffed, for one thing.

What happened to Mrs. Patterson is dreadful but the papers are full of dreadful crimes.
