Nader holds press conference today at 1 pm (11-10-04)
Ralph Nader Holds Press Conference in Washington, DC 1:00 PM, November 10, 2004
Was Every Vote Counted Accurately?
Nader/Camejo Goes Forward with Hand Recount in New Hampshire
Washington, DC: Independent Presidential Candidate Ralph Nader will be holding a press conference at 1:00 in at 1616 P Street, NW, 7th Floor. The press conference will focus on widespread reports of voting problems that raise questions about vote counting. The United States needs to face up to serious shortcomings in its electoral process so that we can have trust in the results of the vote.

1. Can we then FINALLY, AT LAST ignore this man?
I mean, the guy got less than 1% support nationwide. His impact on the election was negligible. Recounting New Hampshire would accomplish NOTHING, and everyone but Ralph agrees on this. Finally, he just makes the left look silly, and we'd be better off without him.

27. We need election reform and we need it badly....
we need it more than almost any other issue for if we do not
get a better handle on the process and make it as open, less
apt to be tampered with, and accurate as possible than nothing
we do toward winning a Democratic majority again is possible.

What ever our personal opinions are of Nader, he does shine at
making the system fairer for the common citizen.

results that are widespread. Next time is just not good enough.

36. I was hating the guy for dividing democrats...
but he has nothing to gain or lose by doing a recount, so I say his motives are probably pure. The exit polls were way off here, so doing a recount will either set people's suspicions to rest, or will point the way to further investigations.

Nothing wrong with this, imho.

2. Finally, Nader is Doing Something Positive
This is exactly the type of situation where Nader is good. He's a publicity hound and a bulldog. No way is he going to let the Democratic establishment sweep the irregularities under the carpet.

4. But that is the Nader of old. He has squandered his credibility
with most dems--and he never had any with the right because he took on their corporations. Now he is dismissed as an opportunist, whether the charge is deserved or not. Sad but true.

You'd think there'd be some sensible republicans and democrats that would come forward on this one. What about Gary Hart and his 9-11 commission?

6. Can You Take Yes for an Answer?
This is great news. I would much rather see Nader dogging the recount than a member of the Democratic establishment. If Nader were going to whitewash the results, he wouldn't have asked for the recount in the first place. He knows something, and he knows that the first goal is bringing the problems to the light of day.

43. Amazing how both Dems and Republicans want to discredit Nader.
Maybe they want to discredit Nader to discredit his message. Wonder why that would be? Hmmmm..... I don't think it's too difficult to figure out if you'll start to think on your own instead of jumping on the latest meme bandwagon.

44. I agree. I'd take Nader's word on these recount/fraud
issues, but my point is that I'm in the minority. Who else will listen.

If a man says some really good shit in the forest with no one else around, does it matter? What is people accepted by both sides did it? I say "nader says..." and it get a laugh from both rep and dem friends. That is my point.

7. Now that's highly doubtful...
He wouldn't be calling a press conference to say, everything's okay with the vote count. Really.

I don't understand the problem some people have with him doing this, I don't see anyone else holding a press conference and demanding the re-count and irregularities to be faced, and fixed, so that the American people to trust their voting system.

This is at the guts of our democracy. Thank you Ralph.

They refused to step in when the request was made of them a few days ago to start the state recount process in NH. So Ralph was asked, as a second choice, and he agreed.

12. Do You Guys Know That DU Folks Are Responsible For This?
Ida Briggs, Hedda Foil, Eloriel, Faun Otter are some of the people here who crunched the numbers and contacted Ralph. He was on the ballot in NH and has the legal standing to challenge the results. He is seeking to establish a pattern and NH is small and easy to examine and the chance of fraud there(based on exit polling) is BIG.

DUers busted their asses for this chance and Ralph is willing to give it a shot. Right now if fucking Ari Fleisher were sincerely offering help I'd fucking take it. 'Nuff said.

who didn't spend the last 4 years talking about how hairy Nader was,or the size of his penis, and actually saw what was coming right down the pike at us again. It's shame more DUers weren't so busy looking for scapegoats all this time (and judging from DU since election night the desire to scapegoat others is still the main Dem practice when the shit hits the fan).

25. this is Nader's forte.
This will pull at his talent as a consumer advocate. This may also prove to be his redemption with many progressives. Let the healing begin. I don't see the left and right coming together, but there is more hope for different factions on the left. We can heal and unite the left, progressives, centerists, greens, dems and naderites. It will take a lot of work, but this is a great first step. Nader and Bev working together? Now that's momentum.

Anyone watching today, please update us cube rats.

That Nader may have planned on just being there, in a privileged psotion to challenge the fraud, utterly separate from the Kerry campaign(considering how hard they acted to get him out of the battleground states). Kind of hard to imagine.
