U.S. blames Palestinians for peace deadlock

WASHINGTON, Sept 4 (Reuters) - The United States on Thursday blamed the Palestinians for the deadlock in Middle East diplomacy and said there was no alternative to the peace plan known as the road map.

"I don't want to sugarcoat this," State Department spokesman Richard Boucher told a daily briefing.

"The main problem now is terrorism and violence and the Palestinian Authority needs to take hold of that problem if we are to move forward," he added.

Boucher said the United States was closely watching events in the Palestinian legislature, where Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas asked for new security powers on Thursday.

1. What a bunch of horseshit

The so-called "road map" was D.O.A. The Israelis continued to expand existing illegal settlement, and even now have built a new one. They continue to confiscate land, and are now constructing a wall in which more land is being taken. But it's all the Palestinians fault.

:eyes:

What this situation needs is an honest broker. This administration obviously ain't it.

2. The Palestenians keep refusing to commit mass suicide........
Someday the Israeli's in power will admit that they are keeping a captive population in ever smaller concentration camps. That will likely be sometime after they realize that Israeli families are not producing enough children to maintain their armies.

Until that day the Israeli's will continue to sound like a drunk blaming the dog for the beating he is giving it. Terrorism is just a code word for enemies of the Bush/Sharon axis of evil. You too are a terrorist.

4. So what else is new?
We always blame the Palestinians for everything.

Only look for this to increase in the next year. It was reported in Israeli newspapers earlier this year that Sharon knew that he only had to pay lip service to the "road map" until September -- after Labor Day, the 2004 election season begins in earnest, and Bush would never do anything to alienate large blocs of Jewish voters after that time.

Frankly I'm suprised they sent him out to do this job, usually it's his job to play a fake bad cop to the Israeli's.

I bet they picked a better little audience for him this time since last time he started blasting on Israel for using Blackhawks vs. civilians and someone asked if he was that mad about it why didn't they invoke the Arms Export Control Act and he looked stupid.
