Dean delivers post mortem on election
Madfloridian posted this earlier but didn't use the exact title. It appears that regardless of what Mr. Grossman says, Dean has not made up his mind about DNC chair or running for election again in 2008.

http://www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/ny-bc-ny--howarddean1108nov08,0,4532517.story?coll=ny-ap-regional-wire

Excerpt:

Dean called on Americans to concentrate on what they have in common. Emphasizing the key points of his failed presidential bid, Dean said most Americans were concerned about job opportunities, health insurance, public education and "a foreign policy based on moral leadership and not military strength."

When asked about his own political future during a question-and-answer session after his 45-minute speech, Dean said he had not decided whether to pursue the chairmanship of the national Democratic Party or another run for the presidency.

Earlier Monday, Steve Grossman, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said the former Vermont governor had told Grossman that he was considering a bid for the chairmanship.

3. And now there is an article out saying Kerry is running in 2008.
And they are trying decide for Dean and making it clear he can't run in 2008.... May all be media hype, but it is sure spinning like a top.
Thanks, I did not catch that about the exact title. I seldom post in LBN and forgot the rules. I was trying to stop the rumors.

7. Much appreciated. There has only been that one interview debunking it.
It is all over the place now, and the article in this post is being ignored. Someone is pushing this bigtime.

8. And I PERSONALLY
will work as hard AGAINST Kerry as I worked FOR Dean.

IOW: Over my dead body. Kerry lost his chance -- forever -- on Wednesday last week. Some fighter he is.

14. Right there with you El.
Not that I don't wish him many years in the Senate. But what he did to the morale of the party with the timing of his concession without any explanation of Edward's previous night's statement borders on toxic.

Likewise the urge to a polity that is no way matched by the Republicans is foolhardy. Why doesn't Kerry speak to his base with respect? They gave him victory, if only he fights for it.

11. DEAN SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF THE DEM ESTABLISHMENT
And, it is this very Dem Establishment that LOST the election and doesn't seem to get it.

We need a leader of the Dem Party that has the courage of his convictions (not polls) and speaks truth to power.

9. And another thing
Dean needs to fucking stop confiding in Steve Grossman -- IF he even is confiding in him. Goddamned traitor.

12. And we don't know that he even is.
There is an apology from Grossman to Dean, an interview, in a new book about the campaign. Dean was so gracious, so nice. I would not have been.

I have trouble believing he considers Grossman a confidant now.

15. Actually Dean could be very useful in the DNC.
There is a lot of power there, kept out of sight, but there.
And Mr. Dean appears to know the score, or at least some of it.
It's hard to be sure out here in TV land.

But I doubt they will let him anywhere near it. Plenty of
blather perhaps, but no deeds.

13. He'd be the perfect choice
I supported Dean in the primaries. But in retrospect I think he was ill-suited to be a presidential candidate.

But, he knew how to craft a coherent and compelling message that could attrack mainstream America. That is what we need in a DNC chair. Also, he was able to mobilize an army of people who were never involved before. We don't need another bagman in the DNC. Give us Howie!
